I believe taking regular vacations is an important part of maintaining your overall health, especially your mental health. Unfortunately, most of us can't get away from our hectic lives as often as we'd like to. This is where the two-minute vacation comes to save your mental health by decreasing your stress level.

While at your desk, close your eyes to block out the piles of work and imagine a serene place. Once you have mentally arrived to your dream vacation, simply breathe for two minutes. Studies have found that taking four of these minibreaks through out your day can provide as much stress release as a 15-minute progressive relaxation session. I like to picture a shady island beach in Thailand. Where do you take your two-minute vacay?

if only that really did me any good. it would just make me want to leave the office THAT much more - which isn't typically something that i can do.
1Yeah, riiiiiiiiight. I barely have enough time in my workday to schedule in time to pee, let alone take two minutes of a mini-break to go anywhere. If I AM lucky enough to have a little bit of a break, I go back to the beach in El Salvador...it was hot and sunny and I remember just hanging out and reading books and collecting seashells with my mom. But then reality always hits and I'm back to the daily flurry of activity.
2I try to go running every day, but once in a while I get to go out on my old ditch route in my hometown. I love running right before they harvest the corn. Since I have never been on a vacation anywhere fun or fancy besides Disneyland, the ditches through the corn fields are heavenly. I don't think I have a good enough imagination to just imagine a vacation though.
