It's easy to lose focus on the big picture while wedding planning. A romantic engagement suddenly warps into a stressful process, and this stress is often accentuated by the pressure some brides feel to lose weight for the big day.
Anna Faris is turning her back on the idea of spending months before her wedding regulating everything she eats or turning the gym into her second home. She's getting more comfortable in the skin she has, and instead of worrying about fitting in an extra workout or counting every calorie, Anna is spending more time with her fiancé. To see what she said when asked if she plans on buckling down before the big day, read more.
I am fattening it up! Now that I have a man, I'm like, "Oh, I don't have to try anymore! Now I can eat." We love to splurge at home. We love to cook. My fiancé is an incredible eater, and so he's really fun to feed, and it's great to share some wine and watch a movie. He's always like, "Baby, don't lose that butt!"
While "fattening it up" isn't appealing to most brides-to-be, I love that Anna is remembering to enjoy herself during her engagement. It's always important to be active and eat healthily, but Anna's attitude is a reminder for brides to give themselves a break.

good for her! I hope they are very happy together
1While I agree that it is refreshing to hear someone say they're going to enjoy their engagement, I think it's a terribly bad attitude to assume that because you're married you no longer have to take care of your body.
We don't workout and eat healthily to impress people, we should do it to have a healthy and strong body that will last for decades, imo.
2Great attitude! She looks amazing, who needs to be Skeletor for their wedding anyway?
3Good for her, I've known too many brides-to-be that had a lousy engagement period because they were waaay too concerned with calories and treadmills.
4Good for her. I remember how she was interviewed by someone about the House Bunny and she said she lost almost 15-20 lbs for that role and was working out like crazy.
5I did the same thing for my wedding. I didn't focus entirely on dieting and exercising I just tried to maintain what I had and tone a few things. It helped knowing that my dress was a corset style that I had to be laced into rather than trying to have it zip up perfectly. I've had friends with those dresses that either lost too much or gained too much and had to have those stressful last minute alterations.
6I think it's great and she's got a fantastic attitude as she's clearly simply not being obsessive about dieting and working out as LaurenG above references regarding her House Bunny days.
7I love her attitude. But if you notice... she just recently got implants, as did hilary duff a few months ago. They both have fleshed out, and look great mind you. However, when you get new boobs and you're coming from a skinny place the docs tell you to gain some weight so that they look better. I've had so many friends who've done the same before surgery, and continue to pack it on afterwards because after the implants getting curvy everywhere else seems to just look better.
8I agree with syako that the attitude that once you found a man you don't have to try and look good or whatever is all wrong . . . being healthy should be for you first and foremost . . not just because you are trying to be attractive to other ppl. On top of that it's important to stay attractive, you'll feel better about yourself for years to come!
9I actually never understood the whole idea of losing weight for your wedding anyway. I didn't do that. I kept eating the same and exercising like I always have, but I wanted to look like myself in my wedding pictures and not some skinny version of myself that I never looked like before and never would look like again. My now-husband loved me the way I was, so who would I be impressing if I had lost weight? I bought my dress to fit my body and since I kept up my regular routine I didn't have to worry about trying to squeeze into a dress that was too small.
10I also agree with syako.
11Anna's so pretty, and she takes pretty good care of herself [that Self mag spread was AMAZING!], so it's nice to hear she's going to enjoy her engagement and eat like she normally does. She's not letting herself go, she's just living.
Most people slim down before their weddings b/c it's their day and everything has to be perfect, so women try to look "their best" [read: their thinnest] for the wedding. I remember my cousin [who is like 15 years older], who is naturally petite, was like 135 lbs. or something when she got engaged. By the time she got to her wedding, she was down to 115 - and everybody was congratulating her on "looking so good in her dress". People encourage that kind of thing, and who doesn't want the biggest compliments about how they look on their wedding day?
Not saying it's right, but just saying it happens a lot.
12Love her
13She should be careful when she says "fattening it up." I think people's perception of what a fat person looks like has been skewed by the media in the last decade or so. But god for her for not caving in to wanting to slim down drastically for what could be a temporary bridal dress size.
14It's a nice message in theory, but I highly doubt she will still be "fattening it up" a few months before her wedding.
15I'm with syako...I'm glad she's not doing the brideorexia thing, but on the other hand, I hate the attitude that "Oh, now that I'm off the market, I can just eat and not work out and get fat". Granted, I didn't diet like crazy before my wedding, but I also never let myself balloon up after I got engaged/married. I work out and eat right for my health, not to look like a supermodel. Hopefully Anna will find a healthy weight to gravitate toward and try to maintain it for the long-term.
16Fatting up sounds like a strange expression if what she actually does is cooking and eating and enjoying herself - but then again, Hollywood is different from the rest of the world and I guess having a normal dinner may count as fattening up...I had friends who lost too much for their wedding and other friends who were on the chubby side and actually gained additional weight before the big day. Both surprised me because you assume that everybody wants to look their best on such an occassion, and they all ended up looking worse than their normal self!
17Good and healthy decision! By saying "fattening up" now she's engaged, I don't think she means "no exercise and only junk food cause I don't have to impress my fiancé", but rather than now she can stop feeling like she's starving herself so people will notice her for her body only.
It sounds like she's just eating normally and enjoying herself.
18Anna Faris is a pretty cheeky gal, so I'd imagine she said the first part about not having to try anymore with her tongue in her cheek .
Also I just have to note that her fiance is Chris Pratt, my favorite character on Parks and Recreation!
19Good for her!
20I don't agree with her philosophy, that if I have a guy in my life; I don't have to try any longer. Its preposterous! you take care of your body because of you, no for someone else.
