Mother's Day doesn't have to be about heavy brunches and lovely bouquets. Although those gifts are nice, you could celebrate the day with a run.

Run with your mom. Run for your mom. Run pushing your jogging stroller. There are runs all over the country celebrating Mother's Day, from the Mominator 5k in Colorado Springs, CO to the Moms on the Run 5k in Dover, NH, with many races in between. Many of these fun runs are family affairs, and kids as well as fathers are encouraged to join in the fun. Check out this list of featured races on Active.com. Will you be running like a mother this Sunday?

I'll be doing the Race for the Cure in Atlanta on Saturday. Our Komen affiliate always plans their annual event for Mother's Day weekend!
1Nope. Our weekend is pretty booked with family events. I ran a 5k on 5/2, but it wasn't a special Mother's Day theme.
2If I suggested a run with my mom, she'd just look at me like I was crazy...
3That's a neat idea. My mom and MIL have walked some 5ks and 10ks while I ran.
4i'm doing a 5k on saturday to raise money for womens cancers! I've raised $625 so far yay
5Running with my mom...riiiiiiiiight. My mom hasn't run a day in her life and she intends to keep it that way I'm sure. She's trying to take up biking though, so maybe I'll ask her to bike with me when I go to visit her on Saturday.
6i'm running the mother's day 4M in central park on sunday.
7I'm running my first race, a 10k, this Sunday! My mom won't be with me but I'll be running for her!
