You Asked: 5 Ideas For Quick, Healthy Breakfasts
Dear FitSugar,
In my effort to be healthier and lose a bit of weight, I have decided to add breakfast to my daily meal plan rather than skipping it out of laziness and lack of time. Should I focus on protein or fiber in the morning? Can you give me some ideas for quick and easy balanced breakfasts?
— New Early Morn' Eater
I applaud your efforts to eat breakfast! I really do believe it is the most important meal of the day. It stokes your metabolism, provides sustained energy throughout your morning, and can help you from over snacking in the afternoon. Ideally, your first meal of the day should have both fiber and protein since both help keep you feeling full. Here are five breakfast ideas, to help you cover your nutritional needs.

I love fresh fruit + greek yogurt! Fruit should be seasonal - so you can always have variety....
1To me breakfast is ALWAYS fruit. You can easily digest fruit before lunch time which means when you eat lunch your body is ready to digest it, not pile it on to the food already waiting to be digested.
Anytime I have a breakfast full of fiber it messes up my system. I have my fiber (and most nutrients) at night and my body has all night to sort and digest!
2I love oatmeal with fruit and walnuts!
3I alternate my breakfasts between oatmeal with banana slices, wheat english muffin with laughing cow cheese, and two scrambled eggs on a slice of wheat bread. All of them keep me nice and full until lunch time.
4I mix together a half cup each of Kashi Go Lean and Kashi Go Lean Crunch Honey Almond Flax, then top it with vanilla soy and a handful of blueberries or a cut up banana. It's absolute perfection.

6Soft boiled pastured egg, slice of whole wheat toast with grass-fed butter (just a little), glass of whole unhomogenized milk and fresh fruit (I love to just have a glass of raspberries and pour the milk over it, squish it with a spoon and voila, raspberry milk!).
7That folks, is my little bit of happiness in the mornings.
I love the Kashi Go Lean Cereal, I eat it almost every morning. I suggest trying it with sliced bananas and cinnamon! It's very filling and loaded with protein and nutrients
