As posting calorie counts becomes mandatory in more and more places, many fast food restaurants are trying to lure health-conscious customers back in an effort to boost slumping sales. Following its competitors that have been offering grilled fare for years, Kentucky Fried Chicken is now serving up buckets of grilled chicken, which is much healthier than its fried counterpart. The grilled chicken will cost the same as KFC's Original Recipe, but the caloric price is considerably lower.
To see how these two types of KFC chicken compare, read more.
Depending on the piece, the grilled chicken contains 70 to 180 calories, compared to 110 to 370 calories found in pieces of Original Recipe. The difference in fat and sodium content is even more striking. The grilled chicken, once again depending on the piece, contains four to nine grams of fat while the Original Recipe pieces contain seven to 21 grams of fat. The grilled chicken sodium tops off at 440 milligrams, while the fried version can contain up to 1,050 mg per piece. While I am not a fan of fast food, I recognize the need to occasionally eat on the run, and appreciate that KFC is offering healthier options. Many of the participating franchises will be offering a free piece for customers to try on April 27. Will you be trying it?

No way.
1Being so close to whole foods and central market I would rather run in there and take an extra 2 minutes to get a real piece or JUST grilled chicken (for about a dollar or two more). No matter how much of a hurry I am in, KFC will never be an option for me. What they serve I can find a healthier version within the same distance.
that looks delicious!!! I hope they use the same seasonings
2i do like their seasoning, so I might try it someday. The one closest to me recently closed so I don't even know where another one is
3Totally with you NdHebert! That looks disgusting
4So far from what I've been reading, the reviews are fairly positive taste-wise. Said same secret blend is used and its not the "painted on" grill marks.
I doubt I would try any though, just because I'm really against how they treat their chickens.
5I wouldn't order the grilled chicken there, because I can make it on my own. If I'm going to KFC, I'm getting the extra crispy.
6Finally! I've been wanting this forever.
7No thank you.
8The only thing I really enjoy about KFC is their fries. This is a good idea for people who like KFC already but I myself would not go to KFC just for that
9I hate fast food but sometimes when I am with my in laws they go here and I like that i have a healthier option now, you know?
10Slightly off topic:
Someone told me they were changing their NAME to KGC (Kentucky Grilled Chicken) - that's BS, right? It sounds stupid.
11I may, just out of curiosity. Is the skin kept on? If yes, I would remove the skin before I eat it.
Generally, I prefer plain, skinless, steamed chicken (in my opinion, the chicken is flavorful and moist), but if that is not available, grilled chicken would be my next pick.
12Is it just me, or does that picture look completely unappetizing? The chicken looks all pre-formed and not very fresh. I'll stick with grilling my own chicken at home...skinless but with the bones for more flavor.
13hey plus_2, i saw they changed the sign at the KFC on my way to work. they just added the Kentucky Grilled Chicken on the bottom part.
I try to avoid fast food, but i'm glad they are adding better options.
14I'd try the free test later on the 27th
15I don't go there much, the last time has been 5 years ago.
I do remember liking their mashed potatoes and gravy though.
While I'm not a member of PETA, I have seen the KFC videos, and grillled or not.....KFC is disgusting.
16This is not health food. Who are they trying to kid?
17I think it looks good and will probably try it if it comes to a KFC here.
I don't understand the hatred against unhealthy food though. There is nothing wrong with eating fried greasy unhealthy food every now and than. It's just the people that eat it every day that are the problem, not the food!

Doesn't make a difference to me either way. Seems like an oxymoron, doesn't it? Helarious!
19A store near me was actually giving out samples yesterday and I went ahead and tried a piece. It reminded me of my dad's chicken on the grill; it wasn't that bad. You can actually taste the seasoning more.
20I don't care if it was made with all natural products and there was no fat, no calories and it tasted great. They electrocute their chickens! That's their secret. So regardless of how the chicken is prepared, prior to it's death it get's electrocuted! I haven't eaten at a Kfc in about 7 years since I learned this:-(
21Of course by "grilled" they mean they paint those grill marks on the meat with caramel color. I hate fast food companies!
22i only like the snackers.the grilled chicken doesn't look good to me.
