Long, slow cardio workouts are great for relieving stress or if you're training for a race, but adding fast-paced intervals will help alleviate boredom, diminish belly fat, and make you stronger.
Whether you get your heart rate up by running, using an elliptical, swimming, jumping rope, or biking, include short sprinting bursts throughout your workout. Add 10- to 60-second sprints every few minutes, slowing down to a moderate pace just long enough to catch your breath between them. These sprints will build and tone muscles and increase your endurance.

i love how the woman in the photo looks exhausted. haha.
1This is why I love my spin class! The instructor does lots of sprints and we change up the resistance during them too!
2Yes! That is why i LOVE my Barry's Bootcamp classes! We do interval training which includes sprinting at an incline mixed with walking and jogging. Really gets my heart rate up!
3I do fartleks. haha it's STILL funny to me !
4I do little speed intervals every 5 minutes on the elliptical. I try to go REALLY fast on a semi-difficult resistance level for 30-45 seconds and it really gets my heart rate going.
5When I run outdoor on weekend, I will sprint between lamp posts on every 5.
6I swear by these. It's a good pain.
7I even do sprints when I use the rowing machine, after every five minutes, I'll crank up the resistance to ten and go for 30 seconds (or 8 and go for a minute). its such a good way to break up a longer work out... isntead of looking at 30 or 45 minutes tick by, you are more engaged with counting the time between intervals, I love them.
8I'm going to try these starting tonight! I have a bit off belly that I just can't seem to get rid of!
9I did these yesterday.
When the rain makes me take my runs indoors, this is the best way to get through a treadmill workout.
Plus it feels great!
10I hear you, syako! I don't love the treadmill, so I do a lot of interval training to get through the winter.
