I've told you about Earth shoes; the stylish and healthy shoe with negative heel technology, which means your toes are 3.7° higher than your heels. The idea is that shifting your weight slightly more to your heels offers health benefits — better breathing, straighter posture, stronger core muscles, tighter thighs, and calf toning. The slight incline, like walking up a not-so-steep hill, the negative heel helps you burn calories too. Earth shoes actually conducted a four-week study with 31 women, half of which walked 10,000 steps three times a week in Earth shoes, and half in regular shoes. In one month, the average fat percentage of the Earth shoes wearers decreased four times more than the non-Earth shoe wearers. While the data pool for the study wasn't large, the findings are pretty interesting.

These are by far one of the most comfortable summery flip-flops I've ever slipped on my feet. The Velcro strap across the top means you can tighten the shoe to fit snugly, ensuring that they won't slip off when you walk. They have excellent arch support (which is tough to find in a flip-flop), and the base of the shoe is made with Bio-Foam Cushioning, which means it molds to the shape of your foot. Similar to my experience wearing FitFlops, I didn't really feel my legs working more than usual, but I was impressed by the comfort of the thongs. They are kinda ugly, regardless of any health benefits.
ugly, and expensive too.
why can't they make them normal looking?
I LOVE flip flops. I could live all summer in them. But due to sports and high heeled shoes for years, I have heel spurs (plantar fasciatis) in both feet, so wearing flip flops all summer, kills my heels and ankles. Any suggestions? Would these make the condition worse?
Normally I can't stand flip-flops because the strap on them chafes my feet. I'm sure these are really great shoes, but I'd probably never pay $50 for a pair of flip-flops.
I'd rather exercise more than be forced to wear those...
I have a pair of Earth vegan shoes in light grey mary-jane style. I promise these are more normal looking once they are on a foot. I've spent more than a month trying to break them in, but the elastic strap still bruises the top of my foot whenever I wear them because I have extremely high arches and therefor the top of my foot is also very high. They are otherwise comfortable, and I don't feel like walking takes any more effort. It might be my imagination, but I do think my legs are looking more toned.
not appealing in the looks dept.
Give me a break, 99% of these comments are negative and not even credible, as most of the reviewers have not EVEN tried on a pair of these Earth flip-flops. Try them, wear them, then review them. Not just look & comment. I bet a lot of the footwear y'all rave about are "ugly" and I bet, not practical or even pretty. When I read a review, I want it from someone who's walked in THESE shoes, not a fashionista-wannabe.
I recently purchased these with thoughts of maximum fat burning in my head. Yes, expensive or flip-flops, but thought it would be worth it price in the benefits. I usually walk 2 miles 3-4 times a week. I started with a short walk thinking they might cause soreness. Soreness, yes, but not from the walking, from the shoe. I have an enormous blister on my big toe where the strap joins the shoe. I am no stranger to flip-flops, as they are my favorite style of shoe. I don't know if maybe I have chosen the wrong size, but very displeased. If anyone has any suggestions, please post a comment.
