Need a new diet gadget to keep things exciting and fun? I sure do...

portionpals ($18.00) were created to teach you how to prepare the correct sized meals. portionpals are food management discs that help you lose weight - while eating the food you want. These 5 - pack (meat, chicken, fish, sides and dessert) silicone discs are color coded and can even double as cutting boards as you cut the portions of food you should eat right then and there.
Here's how it works: Let's say you want chicken tonight with mashed potatoes, corn, salad and pie. So, take chicken out of the refrigerator and place on portionpal disc. Cut around outline and repeat steps for potatoes & dessert. You can also have a large salad.
Sounds simple to me and the price is right. So get your 5-disc set from portionpal.com.

Nifty idea! In addition to exercise, portion size is key to weight loss and management but it's often overlooked.
1Oh wow I have to get those .
2this seems like a good idea, but does it really take into consideration how dense different types of food can be? a really small portion of food can look small if you jam it all up in that little space they provide on the disc. i think i'll stick to weighing my portions out with my weight watchers scale.
3Neat in theory, but what about other foods? How can all "sides" be equal? What about non-meat products (like tofu), veggies, fruit and combination foods (like casserole). Pretty outrageously priced for something you could measure better yourself.
4I love this idea but what about vegetarians? They have lots of grains and veggies but usually not as much protein pieces. Is there something for our veggie friends?
5Wow, great idea!!
6Good idea!
7huh. this is kind of clever, but it's difficult to cut chicken into a square. can't you just eyeball the chicken breast? or how about just eat the whole dang chicken breast? i'm thinking too much into this.
8Cute idea! I liked that you can use them for a cutting board too. But I usually just go by the size of my fist when measuring portions.
9I can't tell you how often I've looked at a serving size and thought, oh GOD, what does 73 grams look like?! An ounce by weight? My kitchen scale is pretty useless for measurements less than about 200 grams, so I feel like I always needs a visual aid. So THAT, I like. But I totally agree that just measuring food isn't enough, I mean, that-sized portion of calorie dense foods isn't going to help too much. And as a vegetarian, well...
10WOW this great. I have to tell everyone that I saw this product on Good Morning America last week. There main message is that you can use portionpals with a diet plan or without. Also what if you are on diets like Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem and you don't like there food. There point was Eat the food you want to eat. Just eat the proper size.
Another point of the report was about If you are on diets like jenny craig etc.. and you are happy. Those diets are about portion size. What happens when you go out to dinner? There point was this is a tool to help with portions.
My view is this if my husband was going to eat a steak meal he would take the whole hunk of meat out of the freezer BBQ it and eat the whole thing along with the pound of Mac Salad. If I had the meat in proper portion sizes he would be eating less calories, less fat which = weightloss.
I bought the product myself after the report. I have realized that myself and my family are going to benefit greatly form this. Portion Control is Step one we know have to stat to exercise.
Anyone have a fix for that? LOL
11I saw that on GMA too. The gentleman who invented it was pretty funny and he lost like 30 lbs himself. The concept from what I got was that this is not a diet, its a tool (like a scale) that helps you portion out food you would normally eat, like chicken for instance. You can eat as much veggies & fruit as you want. I thought about this and ordered. I received 2 days later and used for dinner. I WILL SAY THIS - It works. When I cut the steak into the portion and compared to what I was going to eat, it was a HUGE difference. It's a simple concept that you can use with Jenny Craig or whatever your diet you are on (I'm on JC). You can eat your own chicken for 1 night instead of your programs one night and I even take them with me (their fairly small and really cute). If you just remember that these are a tool to help you cut down on what you eat (for example I had the cutout for cheesecake last night) it was great because I only ate the right portion but got to eat it! I recommend it 100% for the price.
12I like them...but I don't like the price...it doubles when I click on international shipping! DOUBLES!!
