Eating fish is a great way to get your fill of essential omega-3 fatty acids. This healthy fat can help fight obesity, improve your mood, prevent chronic aches and pains, and keep your heart healthy. If you're not a fan of preparing or eating fish, then you may opt for the convenience of fish oil capsules instead. You may have wondered how safe these supplements are when it comes to mercury levels or toxic pollutants found in some species of fish.
To find out, read more.
Studies show that most fish oil supplements contain little or no mercury since they're made from cod, anchovies, and sardines. These types of fish are lower on the food chain, so they live shorter lives and accumulate less mercury. Most companies distill their fish oils too, which helps remove any contaminants such as dioxins or PCBs. So if you're worried about getting too much mercury from eating fish, taking fish oil supplements is a safe choice. Also, look for the USP seal on your nutritional supplements.

I seriously just started taking fish oil a few weeks ago. I would take it randomly when I lived at home as a teen since my dad takes like 3 a day... Then my bf's mom told me she takes about 6 a day ... I only take 2; One with Breakfast and One with Dinner.
1My bottle of pills actually says "mercury free" on it, so I guess that's something to look for too.
2I take Cod Liver Oil once a day. I do notice quite a difference and think it helps with lots of stuff!
3I have been wanting to start taking supplements more than a multi vitamin and Fish Oil was one that I was looking into. Thanks for the post, I didn't know it could also improve your mood, I could definitely use that some days!
4i take Atlantic Salmon Oil pills.. I try twice a day but sometimes only make is for once.
5These really help me regulate my moods and make me less tired.
Definitely look for the No-Mercury and NO FISH TASTE pills. I've had some nasty ones that cause you to burp up fish taste all day...eww
6I take fish oil every day too. I never really thought about whether or not they had mercury in them, but it makes sense that they'd distill the oil before making it into pill form to get out any and all impurities in it.
7Does anybody actually notice anything different after taking these pills? Like what?
8Fawness, I can't attribute my drop in cholesterol solely to these pills as I have changed my diet pretty dramatically as well (going from fast food at least once a day, sometimes twice, to only maybe 3 times a week).
However I just got my cholesterol tested yesterday and these pills somewhat regularly, and a change in diet habits dropped my cholesterol by 40 points in about 4 months.
9Good to know!
10This post provides stunning information. If fish oil can control obesity, then surely everyone will make a beeline for it. There can be nothing better than losing weight and feeling more fit. With loss of weight, the body feels suppler and many diseases are also averted. Taking fish oil can be very good for our overall health.
