5 Reasons to Lift Weights
Skip the Light Weight Many Reps Routine
There are many ladies out there who fear they will bulk up if they lift heavy weights and many
trainers who perpetuate the myth. There is another reason, aside from saving time, for lifting closer to your maximum weight load instead of doing 100 reps with a super light weight: Increase calorie burn for two hours after training. Lifting a greater weight fewer times means you can burn almost
twice as many calories post workout. Think of it as more bang for your buck.

This is so confusing.
I remember when Tracy Anderson (Madonna and Gwyneth's trainer) was on Oprah and she was saying women should NEVER work out with heavy weights since it bulks you up. I think she said never work with more than 3 pound weights.
I still don't know the right answer. :/
1Right? I heard that too (about Tracy Anderson saying no more than 3 lb weights). That doesn't really make sense, though.
The whole weights thing boggles my mind. I don't know what to believe anymore.
2i've been familiar with FitSugar's advice longer than Tracy Anderson, so that's one in her favour. two, i have been using 5lb weights for two months now, and no, i ain't got Madonna arms. those are the facts i'm armed with (sorry, couldn't help it!). also, thanks for answering that issue for me Fit!
