Sometimes doing the right thing for your health can be tough, especially if you've been routinely doing something for a long time, like cleaning your ears with a Q-tip, dumping salt on your food, or continuing to join your co-workers for a cigarette break just because it's social time. So tell me, what unhealthy habit are you trying to put an end to? You never know, another reader might have some good advice to help you kick your habit.

None... I don't really have any unhealthy habits
I got rid of them all years ago!
1I would say binge-eating/emotional eating. I'm trying to learn how not to give in to every craving!
2Probably my worst habit is continuing to lay in the sun as soon as it gets warm enough. I tell myself every year that I'm not going to do it, and then I find myself outside in a bathing suit anyway.
3Too much gum chewing
4Q-tips in my ears, i know it's bad but it feels so awesome, and i can't figure out any other way to get all that water out of my ears post-shower.
5I still use q-tips for my ears. It's not like I shove them in there.
It's not necessarily a habit, but I think I've been grinding my teeth at night --- especially when I have a nightmare. I should probably go to the dentist about it. My dad used to do it too.
6Probably pick my face...but I don't care.
7picking zits, biting nails, emotional eating, q-tips in the ears.....:
:
8i'm a mess lol
9sigh
syako - I have been grinding my teeth and clenching my jaw for as long as I can remember unfortunately. What makes it worse is that it aggravates my TMJ. Go to the dentist if you are really worried about it or wake up with a sore jaw. I have a special night guard that I wear at night and it has done wonders. Don't buy one of those cheap "mold them yourself" ones at the drugstores....they can do more damage then good!
10Oh...I forgot my bad habit. I pick at my cuticles all the time
I just can't leave them alone!!
11Picking at the little bumps on my arms.... so annoying! I'm trying exfoliate everyday and wearing long sleeves or jacket.
12picking at my skin, for sure. it's so hard to stop!
13I have to stop the Q-tip thing too. I get addicted to how tickly they feel in my ears...I dunno, I guess I'm weird. I also need to start flossing more! I'm so bad about it.
I don't pick zits on my face, but I do pop the ones that my husband gets on his back. It's not really bad to pop them; you just have to do it right: clean the area with alcohol, then dip a Q-tip in alcohol. Wrap your index finger with a clean tissue and press it on the zit. Press next to it on the other side with the Q-tip and push as hard as you can until the pus comes out. Clean the area thoroughly with alcohol and apply a benzoyl peroxide cream to it to draw the remaining crud out of there. I sometimes watch the derms at the hospital do this on the really huge, massive zits that people get because they sometimes want us to culture the pus to see if we can put the patient on an antibiotic that will help fight their acne (usually tetracycline, but sometimes we use other stuff).
14Spending too much time worrying and being stressed.
15The one habit I would like to stop is waking up each night for a pee break and snack. Every single night.
16Okay, if you are not to use a Q-tip to clean your ears, what the hell are you supposed to use!? Does that mean not cleaning out your ears at all??? I have horrible wax build up, if I don't clean them out everyday the next day there will be earwax falling out of my ears and onto my clothes! So ladies, what am I supposed to clean my ears with?
17I actually wish I just had more healthy habits, like flossing. I probably snack too much though.
18My night time sweets habit - I have a cup of cereal (not the healthy kind) as topping for my ice-cream every night before I go to bed.
19eating too little (yes, too little, I'm a recovering anorexic); picking at my cuticles and forgetting to wear sunblock.
20Definitely the q-tip thing! I just ran out, so maybe I will stop since they're not in the house.
21Hmm...probably not being able to stop when I start eating sweets...cookies, cake...if I have one, I have 6!
22Ok anyone who doesn't pick at their skin just doesn't get zits and lucky them, I certainly pick at mine!
And I refuse to not use q-tips. I took about a month off from using them and by the end of the month when I would take my ear buds out after listening of my ipod I would have gross ear crud in them. It was disgusting. The q-tips quickly came back to my beauty routine.
23Yeah, I'm with everyone on the Q-Tips, I think for me its absolutely disgusting if I don't use them. So I do, and I'm def. not trying to stop.

26omg i have no clue why that posted THREE TIMES!?!? sorry thats annoying
27You're supposed to let your ears naturally release the wax because it's considered "too risky" to be messing about in there with Q-tips. But sometimes they're just uncomfortable and/or itchy. It's so satisfying.
28Going to bed without washing my face. I bought two new cleansers to make it more appealing to wash my face before bed and so far, it's been doing the trick.
29Oh, and I can't stop using q-tips. Ear wax grosses me out.
30Q-tips and pulling at my cuticles. Oh and I need to cut down on my caffeine intake. I had rougly 32 ounces today!
31Def. cleaning my ears with Q-tips. Dirty ears are just too gross! I also bite my nails all the time. I've tried to stop tons of times but i just can't. lol
32omg...plucking my eyebrows!! i cant stop, its like an OCD habit. i do it when im bored, anxious, excited, tired, etc. i try to give my eyebrows a break sometimes, but then ill feel a hair growing in where it shouldnt be and attack them with the tweezers. ahhh its so frustrating
33Eating crap. I'll think I'm craving something really bad, but when I eat it, I don't feel any better. And I love veggies! Its just that I think somehow eating greasy fries will make my mood better. Or a big bagel in the morning will be a great start to the day. But they just end up making me feel like crap.
And the same (well opposite I guess) with exercise. If I'm feeling tired, I wrestle with going to the gym or laying on the couch. I tell myself that laying on the couch is what I need to unwind, relax, etc. When it really ends up just making me feel so guilty. And if I do suck it up and go to the gym, I feel so amazing! I need to be Nike and just do it. Never think about it. Except that I'm human. boo
34Oh, I guess (even tho its so nasty) I should add picking at pimples. It just creates more of them and makes them look even worse. But I just can't help it.
35texting while driving. yes, i'm THAT girl.
36Picking at zits, biting my cuticles (which I'm really working on stopping), and too much snacking when I'm bored.
37hottpink- I clench my jaw at night too. I only do it when I'm stressed but it does make my jaw sore sometimes and I'm sure it's bad in other ways too. I need to talk to my dentist about it.
38Even though I've never been a smoker, I recently started having a few cigarettes when I go out drinking. I really hate it and every time I go out I swear I'm not going to smoke, but then I end up getting too drunk to care. Seriously, who begins smoking at 24?
39I definitely need to stop night time binge eating when I get home from working the 3-11pm shift. Also, emotional eating in general.
Also, I went to the dentist today for the first time in two yrs (no insurance before) and since I don't floss regularly I had a buildup of plaque and the pain was excruciating as he was trying to remove it, I was bleeding too! But, I made sure to buy floss right after!
40Jolynne: I wish you a healing recovery. I hope you will develop a healthy relationship with food. It's rough, but I think it's possible for you.
As for my unhealthy habit, when I get stressed, I don't sleep. Then I get sick, and I'm unable to face what stressed me out. Somehow, I need to find a way to unwind at night, so I can fall asleep. It's hard.
41I'm with La Tua Cantante and Urban Chic - I'll also add 'stop snacking when I'm not hungry'.
I have to say I'm ashamed I have to 'work' on not stuffing myself with food, when people in other countries don't have enough food to live. :/
42i bite my fingers like its my job. my new years resolution was to stop. i can't quit cold turkey but i do find that i stop myself from time to time.
43hottpink, thanks for the info! I will definitely make a dentist appointment (another bad habit, I haven't gone to the dentist in a long long time.)
44Bella - can you add some tips for all of us girls to get rid of our bad habits?
45Bella and Fit actually!! lol
46q-tips in the ears. I know it's so horrible but sometimes it itches in my ear canal and I can't just ignore it plus sometimes it feels soooooooooooo good
47I agree with CoralAmber. I wish I had more healthy habits! Flossing! I need to floss!
I stopped picking my nails when I got engaged cause I wanted to show off my new ring. But once I my nails grew out to be long and pretty, I became even more obsessed with them. I'd rather pick at them.
48I have a pretty ridiculous caffeine addiction. I plan to quit cold turkey at the end of next week.
49I am definitely guilty of the Q-tips, and I honestly don't care, because I can't stand waxy ears!
