Summer is coming up, I'm sure a lot of you have big trips planned. Vacations provide a much needed break from the trials and tribulations of daily life. Whether you are vacationing for relaxation or adventure, traveling does sometimes come with interesting side effects - both known and unexpected.
So I want to know...

Dolce & Gabbana
Tod's
Kookai
I don't travel that far so I don't get jet lag, but for some reason my body gets out of wacked (constipation, tee, hee). Why is that?
1I agree- I don't know what it is about traveling. Even when I just make the 2-hour drive to visit my parents for the weekend, my digestion is out of whack the entire time until I get back home. I wonder if part of it is psychological--just being out of your normal comfort zone and normal routine, perhaps?
2I think you nailed it nik.
3And I always thought I was crazy because everytime I travel I feel sick to my stomach and have digestive problems! I'm glad to know I'm not alone...
4i have the opposite problem of consitpation when i travel...infact, i live off of imodium on vacations. it sucks cause i will take it everyday and still go like a noral person would, but i don't take it, i can't go any signifcant distance away from a bathroom.
5Being on your period.
6Jet lag gets me. I love flying but man...jet lag kills me.
7Ugh, I voted for constipation - I always have digestive problems when traveling, especially to a place I've never been before. The time zone change always proves traumatic! I agree with crispet though, being on your period is THE worst!
8i didnt even know u can get cosntipated from flying..and ive been flying once every year since i was 6 months old...wat causes the constipation??
9I heard because youre just sitting in one place for a long time and your bowels cant move stuff around.
10this is funny...i thought i was weird for almost ALWAYS having digestion issues when flying! i keep hydrated but still...drives me nuts i find myself hunting for bitter coffee, hehe
11How about getting your period? Totally miserable when traveling!
12i agree period is worse, but constipation is a close second. i mean, at least with jet lag you can pound down a couple of red bulls or take a nap to relieve the tiredness.
13Period is bad, I will admit. But every time I travel, mainly flying, I get so bloated! And then kind of gassy. Not the smelly kind, though. It's annoying!
14ugh, constipation. maybe it's because you're eating things you don't typically consume.
15I've never had bowel movement problems when traveling and I have been to Europe 7 times (I am only 18) and many other places. I also barely have jet lag because I sleep in the car (to and from the hotel/airport/work) to catch up! It is easy to indulge and eat food low in nutrients and fiber because it's a vacation, but feeling terrible after doesn't make any food worth it.
16When ever I traveled to visit my bf in AZ, I would always get stopped up, if you know what I mean. I hated it. Then when I got home, I was fine and dandy.
17Constipation, I've NEVER been constipated in my life and never want to be.
18LALALaourie, i agree, i get gas too. it's almost embarrassing because you worry it might be real, but thankfully it never is.
i think eating different food than your normal diet might effect you as well.
19Definitely constipation. I've never really had a bad experience with jet lag. I have lost my voice on one or two occasions when traveling and it sucked!
20I voted constipation although I rarely get that. I get an upset stomach a lot when I travel. I believe it has to do with the different food preparation methods and the waters.
21I get bad gas cramps on the plane too. I think it is from sitting so long in the same position. Sometimes drinking warm or hot water or herbal will help move things along when you arrive at your destination. I don't like to drink caffiene because it will throw off my sleep cycle. There are also yoga moves or stomach massages you can do as well when you get to your hotel room.
22Constipation is worse. However, the plane ride is what I dread the most. Hours of being stuck in the same position between two large people that spill over onto your seat. And I never sleep on a plane or a car. The destination is always worth it, though.
23I have serious jet lag, but I love it because I'm usually a night person. Normally getting me up in the morning is like trying to rouse a vampire. But when I travel halfway around the world and the schedule is flipped by 12 hours, suddenly I turn into a bright, cheerful, perky morning person for a week. How convenient it would be if I was always jet-lagged!
I don't have problems with digestion either. Really, the only thing that's difficult for me is that air travel (even if it's only a 2-hour flight) makes the blood settle in my lower legs/feet and causes painful swelling. But last year I found a good Japanese OTC medication which eliminates the swelling, so now I don't get any bad physical symptoms at all.
24i learned to pack my own oatmeal and flax for breakfast and drink tons of water when i travel. coffee helps, too, if you're ok with caffeine.
