anybody know of any 'walking marathons' in the UK?
1You should add the Preferred Care Marathon in Rochester, NY to this list. I'll be walking the half there for the third time this fall. The race is on Sunday, September 13.
Great list, Fit! I've also walked halfs in Houston and Nashville, and am always looking for walker-friendly races. Thanks!
2Well the eligibility for the random draw for Nike closed last night. Good luck to everyone who entered.
3Awesome!!
4I think it is fantastic that people who may not be able to run a marathon can walk them instead. You are still going the full 26.2 miles which is a feat at any speed. I have also found a lot of walkers are raising money for charities so kuddos to them.
5I would just like to suggest that if you are a walker, please be sure to start at the end of the pack and be aware of runners trying to get around you. I find that walkers (and runners for that matter)are sometimes unaware of the runners trying to get around them and it can be really frustrating as a runner to try to dodge everyone, especially at the beginning of a race.
There are also some runners who think that people shouldnt be able to walk marathons but I think thats bs, the more the merrier! It is just great to see people being active.
I will be walking/running my first half marathon in July! I'm totally nervous and excited all at the same time. Maybe next year I will be ready to do the full marathon, but for now the half is good for me!
