By the time Friday night rolls around all I can really do to celebrate the upcoming weekend is say "TGIF," and that is just about it. Going out on the town after a week of working and mothering often just seems too tiring. You know what though, exercising often does not — go figure!
The gym is often not crowded Friday after work, so working out feels like I am flying solo. I can hop from cardio machine to cardio and really mix it up. Plus, if I start the weekend off on the right foot, I can keep a healthy balance for the next two days. If I can't make it to the gym I do a DVD at home. This Friday night workout motivates a Saturday morning. Seriously! The extra hour of light in the evening makes it easier to squeeze in a workout.
Am I alone here? Does anyone else like to start her weekend with a workout? Let me know in the comment section below.

I like to workout on Fridays too - the gym is never crowded and fitness classes seem a lot less crowded too. My gym is hardly ever crammed, so I can usually hop equipment if I want to, so the biggest plus for me is that the classes have less people so I don't feel like I'm going to run into people as much. (I'm tall, so my step compared to an average step is a lot bigger, so to get the good workout, I take up more floor space)
Plus, Saturday is my free day diet wise and if I workout on Friday evening, I always feel better about eating what I want on Saturday.

3i'm a middle school teacher, so on fridays all of my students and colleagues want to rush home. thus, no after-school homework help! i take advantage of this by hitting an early turbo kickboxing class at 4:30, and relaxing the rest of the night away. plus, the class is fairly empty and there's plenty of parking. i heart friday workouts!

8absolutely! friday night is gym night. i just use the small gym at my condo complex, so it can be crowded. friday nights it's EMPTY.
my workdays always end with a trip to the barn and usually a training ride on my horse, so i do end up with a rather late night (i got home from the gym at 9:15 tonight and just finished dinner). but i had a good solid hour of cardio, 1/2 hour of weights and the tv to myself (mike rowe and dirty jobs make the time fly).
9Yes, I always try to go to a class on Friday night - it's a pretty busy class. I'm not the only one squeezing in a workout before heading out!
10I should try to be more active on Fridays. I find that by the time Friday comes around I'm so stressed out from the week that I go home, crash on the couch, and eat stuff I regret later! It just sets a bad tone for the weekend and I'm trying to stop this habit.
11Friday night is my workout night. I love to relax in the evening with it and get ready for the weekend. I don't go to gyms, so I do a DVD at home. My workouts are longer on Friday than on week days.
12wow I really admire all of you for having the strength to work out on Fridays. I usually am too glad the weekend is there again and just relax all night (eating snacks as well) which is not a good way to ring in my weekend, cause I'll stick to this routine throughout the weekend. Maybe I should get more active on Fridays and set a good example for the rest of the weekend.
13Yep I usually go to the gym on Friday afternoon. Destresses me after a week of hard work.
14I'm not much of a night workout person. I do like to hit the gym right after work on Fridays, though...usually around 2 in the afternoon or so. It's definitely not crowded and it helps me decompress after a usually very stressful work day. Sometimes I have to be at work by 6 am on Saturday, so it's kind of nice to get my workout done and get home so I can go to bed early and get up for work the next day.
15Friday evenings are my favorite time to work out. I don't live in a really big city so it is definitely less crowded, plus I don't feel like I am in as big of a rush. If I go out I typically don't go out until 10 anyway and during the week 10 is my bedtime so I don't feel as rushed. And this is totally lame but if I am going to be showing off my legs later that night I love getting a good leg workout because it makes me feel stronger in that area that I am showing off. Physically there may be no difference but I definitely strut a little more thinking about the squats and lunges I did earlier!

18Yes, I personally try to work out (using a great mix of DVDs) every Friday night after a long day of work and supper. It's a refreshing way to start the weekend, keeps me in shape, and with my weekly routine.
19I love my Friday night Zumba class. It's a great workout and so much fun...AND it's always crowded.

21friday afternoon/night gym sessions are where it's at. not a whole lot of traffic at the gym and you're less pressed for time, so you can get every part worked ( even get the pool and sauna to yourself ) and not feel so guilty about by-passing your work-out on saturday... and sunday...
22Love Fridays as workout days! it keeps my schedule regular and energizes me for the weekend! The gym is still relatively crowded but it consists more people who are there to do some light work rather than work out hard core

24I like going to the gym on Friday. All the regulars are there... Sometimes its less busy.... sometimes not, either way I'm going.
