My friend DearSugar offered some great tips on keeping your diet in check while dating, and here's another one. When dining out with your significant other, a great way to prevent consuming a day's worth of calories in one sitting is to order one entrée and share it. But before your meal arrives, ask your server for two separate plates.
Just like it's a bad idea to eat straight out of the bag of tortilla chips, you don't want to eat right off the big plate of food. Scoop out a portion for yourself before you begin eating to help you keep tabs on exactly how much you're consuming. Do this every time you dine in or out together, and it'll help prevent weight gain while dating.

Great idea!
1LOL, if my husband and I ever share off one plate, he eats about 75% of the food, so if I were to take half first, I'd actually be eating MORE. It IS a pretty good tip, though.
2Does anyone else hate doing this to servers? In the past I've done it and gotten the worst looks! Plus I used to be in the service industry and realllllllly didn't like the people who shared an entree...I'd much rather order my own meal and take home the leftovers.
3gotta go with superfoxml here, i'd feel *awk-ward* doing that!
4I've been to a few restaurants that will charge you more money if you ask for a second plate for one entree. I just take any leftovers home and that's my lunch for the next day.
5The problem is that my boyfriend will finish his and half of mine. So I still end up eating half, but we still have to order two!
6We do this, but then we order lots of drinks to compensate for the loss to the server.
7I could not convince my boyfriend to do this. I would also feel awkward doing this to the server, but I suppose getting a lot of drinks would make up for it.
8I wouldn't. My husband is very active and needs more food than that. He'd eat his share, mine and still order another entree!
Here in London, many restaurants flat-out do not allow this. I can't say I blame them, due to certain circumstances-- but I won't pontificate.
9Yeah, that is always fun but unfortunately my new beau eats allot and he seems to keep a six pack and have broad shoulders and stay thin. I don't know how.
10i realllyy can't eat what my boyfriend eats (let alone as much)
