Milla Jovovich just made my day. I have to smile whenever I hear supermodels or celebrities admit they have to work insanely hard to achieve their postpregnancy bodies, and this model mom told her story about struggling to lose 70 pounds after giving birth in November 2007. She's in the business of looking amazing, so her ability to get back to work depended on shedding the dozens of pregnancy pounds.
The stunning supermodel said she slimmed down with "Diet and lots of exercise, I worked my big, little butt off," adding "It’s been a lot of work and I’ve been working with Harley Pasternak and his 5-Factor program, they actually have diet food sent to my house. At one point I just ate oatmeal, salmon, and artichokes every day for a week. It was definitely a lot easier putting it on!"
Milla isn't holding back the real deal behind what it took to lose 70 pounds. Not only did she have a professionally prescribed diet plan, she had the food delivered to her house and was extremely limited on what she was allowed to eat. It's a refreshing reminder about the resources available to models and celebrities that might not be accessible to us, and I commend Milla for her honesty and hard work at the gym.

Very refreshing to hear!
1SO much better to hear than "Oh I just walk my dog and do yoga 2x a week and eat whatever I want!"
2Wow, 70 lbs is a lot to gain. Good for her for losing the weight.
3As sick as I am about hearing celebrity weight loss stories (especially pregnancy ones), this is certainly an honest one. Obviously, anyone can lose 70 pounds, but it is not an easy thing to do for sure, even if it's "just" baby weight.
4Good to hear the truth!
5Nice to hear! I am so sick of those celebs who are like "I lost 50 pounds in 2 weeks by doing yoga once and eating chips every day".
6She has always been my favorite model. This is refreshing to hear and I agree it's much better than Alessandra's I do yoga 1 a week to lose my baby weight statement.
7Finally! Is there some sort of conspiracy that keeps models and actresses from telling us how hard they work to look good?!
8Gaining 70 lbs during pregnancy is disgusting. The baby weighs all of 8 lbs. What's the extra 62 lbs for?
9It's nice to hear someone telling the truth for once (about dieting and exercizing in order to lose weight). However I think putting on 70 lbs is too much for any woman. I read somewhere that something around 20 lbs is a reasonable weight gain during pregnancy.
CrystalVillage, I think Alessandra Ambrosio lied big effing time about her weight loss.
1070 lbs during pregnancy is a lot, but everyone is different. You don't just gain weight in food for a baby or the baby. If you eat a lot, you're going to put on weight. I don't think it's a sin. And I'm sorry, I have never met one woman who put on just 20 lbs while pregnant...if you're hungry, eating all the time, and big meals at that, and you lay down all day, or stay sedentary, then 20 lbs can happen in 2 months if you're not careful, and if you keep up at that pace, then 70 lbs by 9 months is not unrealistic. Aim to be healthy during pregnancy, don't aim to fit a certain standard of 20 lbs. If you're fine, and the baby is fine, that is more important than 70 lbs for sure.
11So she put on 70 pounds, at least she is not only honest about how she had to lose the weight, but that she gained that much in the first place. It might be a little excessive but never having been pregnant myself I will not criticize a pregnant woman who is fighting hormones, cravings, fatigue etc. for gaining extra weight during their pregnancy. Willpower will only go so far and if my pms cravings are any indication, if I do go through a pregnancy I may be in for 70 pounds myself!
12I saw pics of her when she was pregnant and she in no way looked "disgusting" so 70 lbs might sound like a lot, but she didn't look like a huge heffer or anything. Also, 70 lbs on a regular weight woman looks like more than on a supermodel thin woman. go to the link, it shows 2 pictures. She by no means is huge or anything
13I'd lose 70 if I had food delivered to me too.
14Milla is SO beautiful, she is adorable. I think it was hard to lose 70 pounds, but at least she got it.
15DISGUSTING?
Wow that's a pretty calous and undeserving statement.
I think Milla looks great, she didn't look like she gained 70 lbs back then and I applaud her honesty for sharing her struggles.
Pregnancy does some crazy things to your body. Some people can't help how much they gain and lot of it is usually just water at any rate. What matters most is that they delivered a healthy child.
Makes me shake my head how women can be so unsupportive of people, whether they've lost the weight or gained it. We should all stick together and look on the bright side.
It may be "disgusting" to some people that she gained the weight but it's nothing but INSPIRING that she lost it all and then some
16Well said, wanderlusting!
17As a model, she probably had to gain at least 20 pounds before reaching a good weight to carry a child! I saw some pictures of her pregnant and she looked round and beautiful.
18For some women, self-control goes out the window too when pregnant. When you crave something your body needs, it is important to eat it. 70lbs is quite a bit to gain. She must have been uncomfortable. I am glad she lost it again. However, only eating oatmeal, salmon and artichokes is pretty sad. My guess is that there was no brown sugar on the oatmeal and no butter for the artichokes.
People who are criticizing her for gaining 70 lbs need to realize a few things: A) she's a model and she's tall, so 70 lbs would probably spread out pretty well on her frame and it probably only looked like she gained 40 lbs or so and B) like other people have said, sometimes when you're pregnant your body does weird things and you may crave foods you never craved before or you may not be able to exercise due to some weird complication. I think it's awesome that she's willing to admit that she admitted to gaining 70 lbs in the first place and that it's damn hard to lose it all. It's refreshing to hear someone say something other than "I breastfed and ate like crazy and it all fell off" or "I did Pilates and ate cheeseburgers all day". You KNOW they all at least make a conscious effort to lose weight because that's their job.
