For many of you, wintry weather doesn't exactly inspire you to spend time outside. It's so nice to stay inside where it's warm, but remember that it's also cold and flu season. So give yourself a break from all those germs floating around, and make time to get outside at least once a day. Just bundle up and go for a long walk before work, run on your lunch breaks, or walk to your errands after work. If you wear the right gear, you'll be able to enjoy yourself, while giving your lungs a chance to inhale some much-needed fresh air. Keep in mind that being out in the cold doesn't cause colds and flu — but being inside with people and germs does.

Really? I think it depends on who you're around, and making sure you wash your hands CONSTANTLY - and don't touch your face.
I haven't been terribly sick all winter this year [a miracle, everyone I know has had the flu at least ONCE this year], and it's because I *didn't* get out much. I try to keep the area I live in in tip-top shape, nobody in my immediate family has been very sick.
The times I've gotten coughs, sore throats and colds are after I've been outside, around people. So I don't know about this.
1@margokhal - By outside, you mean out and about touching door handles and being in public buildings. All fit is trying to say is get out, stretch your legs, and get your blood flowing!
2Yeah, I always need my fresh air even if it's only for a little while.
3Fresh air helps but so doesn't washing your hands and staying away from people hacking all over the place. Ha.
4@Leila07 - No, I meant what was implied: outside as in outdoors, not as in out and about. Maybe I wasn't clear: It doesn't matter where you are, people everywhere can be inconsiderate in spreading their germs. It's not the outdoor environment I'm particularly worried about, it's people.
Sure, getting outside and some fresh air can help, but I credit my case of non-sickness by *not* being around people a lot [in my case, this is staying inside] and washing my hands often. Especially because we're already in spring/summer weather mode where I am [it's hot!].
