Fitness Gear I'd Never Buy
If you stay up a little late while flipping through channels, you're bound to come across some lame infomercials trying to sell you the next best piece of fitness equipment. Many of them make huge empty promises like "Flat abs in just five minutes a day!" or "Lose 10 pounds in just two weeks!" All the testimonials from real users may inspire you to pick up the phone, but before you fall for the scam, check out some gear that I think is a total waste of moolah.

You nailed the top ones, but it does seem like every week there is some new gizmo guaranteed to take the "work" out of working out and give you every result you have wanted. As someone in the industry it leaves me VERY frustrated because it leaves the public with the suspicion that we are all snake oil salesmen.
How about a shout out to the great gizmos: the physioball (good heavens, its round!); the BOSU (good heavens, its almost round); the heart monitor; and, if you're in the mood for something that attaches to the door, the TRX.
In the end though, if it gets you to exercise when, without it, you wouldn't, it is a success.
1Agreed. I love watching these infomercials though... very entertaining.
2Yeah, sometimes I work out at 4 am because I have to take a shower at 5 before work and I usually watch TV. And there is pretty much nothing on at 4 am except infomercials. Some of them are really hilarious and I doubt most of the stuff they sell actually works. My aunt has the Gazelle and I tried it once while I was at her house...what a PIECE OF CRAP! You can't increase the resistance at all and it barely got my heart rate up even after being on it for 20 minutes. You'd have to be very out of shape in order for that to give you a halfway decent workout.
3What's sad is that my aunt owns two of the six: Gazelle and the air climber. I've tried both out of curiosity, and both are ridiculous.
