It's Winter, and for many people, especially women, their hands and feet are always cold. The reason this happens is basically your body's way of surviving cold temps. When the thermometer level drops, your body tries to keep your core warm, where all your vital organs are. So the blood vessels in your extremities constrict and limit circulation to these parts of your body. The result is cold-to-the-touch fingers, hands, toes, feet, nose, and ears. The best thing to do is bundle up with warm clothes, exercise, or drink hot beverages to increase your body temperature.
If it's not cold where you live, then cold hands and feet could mean something else. To find out what then read more.
If you have risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease such as history of smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes, then cold hands and feet could also be a sign that there are blockages in the small blood vessels. Medications can help with this, or increasing your omega-3s.
If your fingers and toes are often cold and they turn a whitish color, then you may have Raynaud's Disease, which can be caused by cold weather or stress. If you're concerned about your hands and feet constantly being cold, then it can't hurt to make an appointment with your doctor.

I self-diagnosed myself with Raynaud's Disease and do intend to have this double checked by a Dr. It's actually embarrassing sometimes because a guy will say, "what is wrong with your hands? they're all red." or "ohmygosh your hands are so cold" and I don't even notice it anymore because I am so used to it.
1There are natural alternatives - medications shouldn't always be a first resort...
2Interesting...
3My hands and feet are always cold, without fail. Although I do live somewhere that is 20 degrees right now.
4I always have cold hands and feet - always - even in summer. My hands get warm if I am holding something hot and have gloves but that is about it.
5now i know!
my hands n feet tend to be cold too.. more calories intake?
6I have Reynaud's...and I live in Florida lol. It definitely can be a problem at times and it's so weird when I come in from the outside and people will see my fingers and they are just pure white. What's really odd is that my right hand pointer finger usually will be the only one! And if I go into Target at all, it happens to all my fingers and toes. Not fun but really medications don't work all that well and being it's a nuisance rather than debilitating, I'd rather not go the med route anyways.
7My mother and sister both have Raynaud's. Thankfully, I do not!
8o my god thats horrible. I hate being cold...especially cold feet, i freak out. always need another pair of socks in purse.
9My hands are almost always cold. I know it's not Reynaud's because it doesn't fit the profile...mine are generally cold when it's cold in the room or cold outside and they don't change color. What really helps increase your circulation is to either rub your hands together really fast or, if no one's watching, spin your arms around like a windmill. It gets the blood flowing and really warms your hands up fast.
10Raynaud's phenomenon affects about 28 million people in the USA. Here's helpful links for Raynaud's suffers:

There are ways to improve blood circulation, but there's no known cure for Raynauds. Infrared heat helps the cold.
11I'm so sorry, the link to the non-profit Raynaud's Association is:

The people there are wonderful.
12My mom has Reynaud's, and so do I (but no one else in the family). It's one of those things that aren't life-threatening, but a HUGE pain. You'd be suprised how much it gets in the way. I go out of my way not to touch people, because people are generally repulsed by my hands (and not afraid to say so). Shaking hands is an issue. But it could be worse, right?
13i've always had cold hands and feet - even when i lived in Florida, and my doctor has always told me that there's nothing to worry about. it's funny - my fiance is soo warm blooded that he's always dealing with the opposite problem.
14It doesn't have to be Raynaud's for a person to experience that. I know lots of people who have cold hands & feet, but their fingers don't turn white & they are not diagnosed w/ Raynaud's, nor am I. It usually happens when I quit using so much cayenne pepper.
I
LOVE cayenne pepper!
