If you crave carbs during the short days of Winter, you are not alone. There seem to be a couple of physiological factors involved. Since there is less sunlight, due to shorter days, our bodies make less vitamin D (aka the sunshine vitamin). It helps keep your mood nice and sunny since it naturally boosts serotonin levels. Serotonin is the feel-good brain chemical that modulates mood, emotion, and sleep. Carbs provide a serotonin rush, so eating all that bread and pasta is a means of self-medicating with food sources. Exercise also creates serotonin, so don't skimp out on your workouts. You need them during these long nights of Winter to keep your spirits up!

Oh wow now I know!!
1That's interesting... I craved cookies and pasta all February long, it was insane.
2It's Summer here...I need an excuse for warm weather!! Lol
3in other words.. carbs is a kind of addiction?
4I always want carbs...LOL
5I think we are probably made to carry a few extra pounds in the winter. I try not to worry about a few carb cravings. When we get to summer, all I want to eat is fresh fruit and veggies. I thin out quite a bit. I am usually pretty comfortable with how I look and feel.
6Finally I've got it!
