Last year was a big one for trans fat, so it's not surprising the majority of Americans (73 percent) know it's bad news for our health. However, a national survey showed that only 21 percent of respondents could name three foods that generally contain this type of fat, and about one half couldn't name one trans fatty food source.
Awareness is the first step to making health improvements, but it looks like the country could use some more education about trans fatty foods so people are armed to make smarter choices. Can you name three?

Darphin
Calida
Antica Murrina Veneziana
Let say (mind you this is under the influence of heavy migraine meds) - margarine (like blue bonnet- fleishers)
hydrolyzed palm oil
hydrolyzed canola oil
Any food substance that should e liquid at room temperature but has been altered to be a solid at room temperature...don't quote me just babbling.
11. cool whip
i knew the moment i was taking a bite...
22. definitely some ice cream
3. probably the frozen eclairs that i looove
i just looked up some info... looks like fried stuffs, margarine, and sweet stuffs have the most likelihood of having trans fats. darnit...
3Trans fats need to be banned!
4the filling in oreos (at least it was not sure if they changed it or not)
5Lots of crackers (like Ritz)
margarine
prepackaged cookies
Oreos, margarine, Cool Whip. Those are the only ones I knew.
6emil, hahahhaha.
7I was going to name some fried foods but.. if the places fry in 'trans-fat free' oil then I guess they don't count? I was going to say like.. fries and corn dogs, amusement park foods:P
Does anyone know if 'tran fat free oil' is really trans fat free? Or is that like how foods can claim they have no trans fat if they have a low amoubt?
8also quaker chewy granola bars and baked doritos...in small quantities but they still contain hydrogenated oils on the ingredients!
9also candance- as long as foods contain less then .5 grams per serving of trans fats, these foods are allowed to claim they contain 0 trans fats...its totally ridiculous not to mention dangerous to ppls health
10Most grocery store peanut butters
Margarine (already said, but why do people still use the stuff?)
Refrigerated cookie doughs
Some Pasta Roni packages, even if they say "no trans fat"
Shortening
Many cheap packaged cakes/pastries
Flour Tortillas made with shortening
**Anything with "partially hydrogenated oil" of any kind on the label** I can't believe companies will say "No Trans Fat!!" on the front of a package, when a partially hydrogenated oil is listed in the ingredients. It's ridiculous. And some companies are using "fully hydrogenated oils" now instead of partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats), which technically aren't as bad since our bodies can supposedly break them down...but why do we need to alter the fat? Just let fat be fat.
PS I refuse to buy anything with partially hydrogenated oils if that wasn't obvious already....sorry for the sort of rant.
11I read somewhere Burger King is one of the few fast food restaurants that have still not cut trans fats out of their menu. They have done some work, but they still have the highest percentage of trans fats on their menu. The article wasn't that old either.
12Margarine which is just gross. Oreos, I don't eat them but I do like them in ice cream. And Burger King frying oil.
13copha and oreos were the only two I can think of. Which is a bit sad...I check the products when I buy something new to make sure they don't contain trans fats.
14I wish that they would ban all trans fats in Florida! It is so much harder to read everything that my family eats!
1. Baked goods
152. French fries (I was shocked to read 4.5 grams)!!
3. Frozen pizzas
I could name a whole buttload of them, but here's three:
Cool Whip (yes, even the Lite stuff)
Cake mix
Doritos
Oreos
It hides out, so you have to be careful!
