Hollywood is getting ready for the Oscars, and Us Weekly is making us privy to celebs' red-carpet secrets. Among their arsenal of tricks is trainer David Kirsch's Thermo Bubbles ($40 for 10 servings). Supposedly Anne Hathaway, among other actresses and models, partake in this herbal drink that claims to "melt away the fat naturally" along with boosting energy and metabolism levels.

Each 16-oz. serving contains 10 calories with no added sugar. Its ingredients are white tea, guarana (which makes the list of a prominent cardiologist's dangerous diet supplements), ginseng, and green tea. The energy boost probably comes from the caffeine in the green tea. Drinking this fizzy beverage, made from powder you add to water, is said to curb appetites, and the website claims Thermo Bubbles won't give you the jitters or make you crash like coffee or other energy drinks can.

I don't believe this is the magic pill to make fat melt away, and I am not a fan of appetite suppressants. Your body needs calories to burn in order to function. Kirsch recommends drinking his bubbly twice a day, making this an expensive habit — well over $50 a week. But what happens when you stop drinking it? Will your raging appetite return? The best way to lose weight is to exercise and limit your calorie intake under the amount of calories you're burning, without dipping under 1200 calories a day. Why not just drink some green tea, which is considerably cheaper and offers a bevy of health benefits? Or try these five foods to boost your metabolism.

Yeah, that drink would probably put me in the hospital with tachycardia....No thanks.
1This is a big no. If I want an energy boost I'll have a flavored black coffee thanks.
2I saw this in the bliss catalogue and was curious about it...I would give it a shot before a big event
3I LOVE these. I usually have one a day, mid afternoon, between lunch and snack time. I get a huge energy boost, snack less, and get tons of energy to power through the rest of my day. The girls in my office joke that it's like our crack. I have used a lot of his products but this remains my fave.
4I'd be curious to use it.
Who wants to send me some???!!
5i'm always interested in the next fad to help me lose weight, but im not a believer in drinks like this. i always fear the whole bubbly thing too - seeing as how there's often times that it's like alkeselter and that's not tasty
6I'm with Fit . . there's no magic trick or fancy drink to make your fat go away . . .just get ur butt to the gym!
7What a crock of sh*t. It's just like every other ripoff weight loss pill/supplement: lots of caffeine and some green tea thrown in to increase your heart rate and make you jittery. I'm with Fit--just drink green tea. It's way cheaper and a lot more healthy for you.
8Completely agree, Spectra and Fit. Looking closely, many of these "magical" and "trendy" diet drinks and pills contain the same natural things found in green tea and other teas as well as vitamins--with the price cranked way up! Much cheaper to just enjoy some green tea and supplements, as well as healthy snacks, for those fat-burning benefits!
That and the gym. Nothing takes the place of some good ol' sweat!
9Please.
The more this girl looses weight the more she looks boring!!
She used to have this goddess beauty and now she looks more and more like a squirrel...
10im a big believer in david kirsch's methods.. however i think at this point hes just trying to capitalize on his fame by slapping his name on energy drinks
11im old school, prefer a diet red bull!
Guaranine and caffeine are chemically identical.
Like any kind of caffeinated substance, way too much guaranine can be dangerous, but in small quantities it certainly is not.
12why not just drink tea . . .? Less calories, cheaper, and probably healthier/safer. It doesn't have the fizzies, but it probably would help control cravings, since you sip it slowly. There are teas with special blends for energy, or with more antioxidants. There's even one that I drink before a night out if I know I will be drinking.
I used to be a fan but I just lost a lot of respect for Kirsch.
13dumb
14I'm a fan of David Kirsch & like his book a lot, but this sounds ridiculous.
Anne Hathaway seems obsessed with weight loss. She used to be really pretty with more curves.
15Pegona, I was just going to say the same thing.. Guarana IS caffiene.. not sure how it wouldn't cause the "crash" that you get from coffee. Maybe the caffiene in the teas have a different "burn off" period than the guarana.. regardless, I won't be trying it, I'll just stick with my sugar free gum in between meals!
16Ugh, that sounds horrible. I avoid anything with guarana.
17" The energy boost probably comes from the caffeine in the green tea" Um.. are you serious? Just a thought here it could be from the GUARANA..which has like twice the caffiene of coffee. Anyway, I figure that these things don't work, and the only reason they would.. would be because the caffiene gives you the energy to work it off or makes you fidget so much you burn calories.
18it's not that expensive if you buy the package once in a while and they make it sounds yummy and fresh
i want to try it.. but i doubt the effect though
it's true.. like.. why not just drink green tea
i love japanese variations of green tea, they're so soothing and REAL green tea
19why do people think they could lose weight by taking a pill or drinking a certain expensive drink? man, people are dumb. all you need to do is exercise and eat healthy. that is the ONLY way you will lose weight. people are just lazy
20I bought this out of curiosity. Not a magic bullet and way too expensive to use everyday. In some ways I wonder if it is a placebo effect.
I drank it when I was working out - and usually followed it with good ole H2O.
But like it has been said here, there are several varieties of teas that will work as effectively. I have green tea and oolong tea at home.
In the end moderation is the key. Overuse of anything is a bad thing.
21this is rubbish. anne hathaway's been on record as being against a hollywood enforced body image (which is why she's rather on the plump side), and it just doesn't follow that she'd even consider drinking anything like this. not that it'd work anyway, but you know.
