Spring has sprung, so now it's time for some Spring cleaning. Maybe dusting and organizing clutter is not the most exciting way to spend your weekend, but you'll feel so much better you'll feel when it is all done. Go ahead and clean out your closet, dust under your bed and on top of the fridge, vacuum your mattress to get rid of dust mites, and open up the windows to get some fresh air circulating. A huge plus is you'll also be burning some major calories too. To find out how many read more.

I wish we could get some fresh air in here. It's barely surpassed 50 degrees here in Boston all season so far. I did clean up my filthy bedroom yesterday, though, so that's something.
1Good to know, thanks Fit!
2It's going to freakin' snow tonight here, so no spring cleaning yet. I'm planning on doing a lot of mine the weekend after Easter when it's (hopefully) warmer out. I definitely want to steam clean my carpet and get rid of some junk in the basement.
3Anyone else laughing at the image of the mom raking while wearing a cute little sundress and sandals?
4Hey, this actually makes me want to clean.. Spring cleaning is such a daunting task.
5I'm kind of surprised that a push-mower burns only a few more calories than a riding mower...
6I can only imagine a guy wrote this article...
7lol i was laughing at the lady in the sun dress too. haha
i get old sweats and look quite frankly. not like that
haha
8and it was good though.
ironically, i was spring cleaning today.
cool article thanks fit! :]
Who the heck rakes a yard in a white sundress?
9since when is a person over weight when they weigh 130.I sick and tired of people who are thin as a rail claiming they are fat what mirror are they looking at unless you live in a house of mirrors shut up already.
10Wowzers, its still snowing in parts of the USA? I'm glad i live in South Beach Fla
.
Done with my spring cleaning last months.
11I take offense that this shows a mom and a little girl. What is yahoo trying to say, that now the woman is supposed to clean indoors and outdoors while the fat man lays on his butt and is allowed to get fatter. What a bad example this is especially to little girls. And look what they wrote:
"These calculations are based on a 130-pound woman."
They don't even put one for a man!!!!!
I am ashamed at Yahoo!!!!!
12Boys need to lose calories too Yahoo!!!!!
13I'm really surprised they didn't include vacuuming, I would consider it more noteworthy than say laundry or ironing.
14Shoot, even if I did everything on the list for 30 minutes each, that is less than 1400 calories. Also I would hope no one waits all winter to dust under their beds, I do mine at least every two weeks, same with the top of the fridge and also the vacuuming of the mattress. Who is the person that wrote the article, probably the same one raking the yard in her sun-dress -- however I did notice she removed her high heels and pearls.
15Why don't they say a woman can burn calories while delivering a beer to her husband???
16Why is it that the woman has to look perfect while doing everything. Look at her in her little spotless white dress. So now women have to do all the work and still remain perfect without a bead of sweat??? What is this the 50s?????
17Lol, don't get your knickers in a bunch over such a minor details, jeez. Just think-- how much more often do you see women dieting than men? This article is just considering the broader audience. Simple advertisement method and nothing offensive about it.
That said, this is a motivating article hoho.
18what about vacuuming???
19Spring cleaning..lol ITS SNOWING RIGHT NOW in Chicago... I cant wait for the weather to warm up!!
20I really enjoyed, this article it,s very informative and just gives you a base line.to keep us positve about doing some form of execise I love empowering people with the positve instead, of the negative, life is too short. "have Faith "
21What about what you burn scrubbing your tub? after a long winter of hot showers and long hot baths, plus it being the sick season you know your tub need a good scrub!
22nothing like a 'clean house'. one thing about getting
23a dirty house clean, as soon as it gets clean it starts
getting dirty right away. its a daily chore to keep
it clean. i am happy with myself. i vacuumed today.
i don't want to live in a germy pigsty. cleanliness
is next to godliness and sanity is closely related
to sanitation. pandemics have started in a germy pigsty
of a house. like reading about someone with 50 cats
and a real germy pigsty mess. good tv program in britain
called 'clean house'. the crews go out and find those
pigsties and help them 'clean house'.
#16 needs to calm down. Geez overachiever much? You dust under the bed every 2 weeks?I'm lucky if my room gets vacuumed once a month. Nevermind what is hiding under my bed.
24And as to people taking offense to the picture, it is just that, a picture. It isn't meant to be a slice of reality. Its all marketing. People need to breathe a little.
I keep things CLEAN ALL YEAR ROUND!!! Thats how I roll. SPRING CLEANING????? My WARDROBE is what I do every spring>>>
25Yeah--those gloves she is wearing in the picture really go with the dress, eh? The info is helpful, but let's be realistic. 130 is not even an AVERAGE weight for a woman in the United States. In the future, to make the info more applicable to more people--base the caloric counts on the average...for both genders
26Tell you what...you go clean the house,I'm going out to dance!!!lOL
27You tell them #25!!! I agree with you. It's just an add and people should calm down. Get your lazy butts up and clean.
28marisa99, I can't help but laugh too. Why bother to wear gloves if you don't protect your bare feet from being jabbed with the rake by accident? Anyway, nothing wrong with cleaning the house, its just the implying that the only upside to cleaning is losing weight from burning calories that irks me, not health benefits like preventing toxic mold from growing in your bathtub or the spread of salmonella from an non-sanitized countertop. I hate to be harsh but it's sexist to assume that vanity has a priority over my health because I'm a female. This obsession with jean size is not helping young girls who have to deal with the fact that women are forced to live with unrealistic beauty standards their entire lives.
29It's gonna snow here tonight in Ohio too. I'm spring cleaning today because my 2 little boys plus one big boy plus one puppy have done a number on my kitchen over the weekend. I don't feel oppressed or angry at men yet..Yay for burning calories though:)
30Oh we're lucky here in sunny Oregon (last day of sun until more rain tomorrow). Hehe, I just finished my spring cleaning (basically purging unnecessary items, steam cleaning carpet, and basically organizing everything) last week. Good to know that I Might have burned some calories
I wonder about vacuuming. I vacuum daily (unless when sick, so it became once every 2 days) and do everything on that list on a daily basis beside emptying out garage (no garage here), raking the leaves and rearranging furniture.
My fiancee pulled his weight too, especially during the 'deep cleaning' session. He'll deal with the nasty stuff LOL.
