Who would have thought peanut butter would ever get so much press? The sticky spread is still the center of the latest salmonella scare, and products continue to be pulled from shelves as a precaution. Starbucks is the most recent company to temporarily rid their stores of goods containing peanut butter. Have you taken similar precautionary moves in your own home?

i eat half a jar a year
)) so i still have my year's supply...
I love my Skippy Creamy. I eat about 2 pbs on toast daily.
I did accidentally eat a recalled Luna bar last week but I think I'm ok. And I haven't been avoiding Skippy since I've had the same giant jar for a few months now and didn't get sick.
I grind my own at the market so what I eat is pretty freakin fresh, and I don't eat the processed foods that the salmonella stuff is in so the scare has not affected me directly.
I haven't paid any attention. I've had peanut butter and honey sandwiches a lot latey and I am still fine.
I really miss dipping apple slices into peanut butter.
Wasn't there just a Peter Pan recall a year or so ago? What the heck is wrong with these food manufacturers? It p*sses me off to no end.
Yea, tisgirl, there was a PP recall and I remember getting refunded the price of that jar. lol.
A little bit.
i grind my own pb too at the store, so i haven't really worried about it...and i don't really eat processed foods so much, so no worries
I didn't even know about this until now - and I just ate peanut butter today :|
I thought I should clarify my angry little post from above - I read an article in the Wash Post today that basically details how little oversight there is from the FDA and state governments, and that this particular plant had had 12 previous *known* cases of salmonella in the past few years that had basically been ignored or covered up. Ugh.
Still eating my Jif, but am avoiding other products with peanut butter paste, etc.
I love my PB&J.
No. My PB is from 100% unblanched, unsalted peanuts.
No, I don't buy processed food with PB in it.
Nope. I buy my peanut butter from Whole Foods either their 365 brand or I grind my own there.
I don't really buy any other peanut butter products, they never taste really peanut buttery to me.
I was diagnosed as allergic to peanuts a few months ago. Strangely enough, I'd eaten pb and apple slices for breakfast before the test, but realized I am allergic after I quit eating peanuts and several different symptoms cleared up. I was really upset over the allergy, until this recall, when I realized that it may have prevented serious illnesses in me and my young sons (we don't buy and PB anymore because of my allergy).
I'm not a big fan of PB, when I do have anything like it I have almond or soy nut butter instead. Plus, I've heard so many negative things about regular PB & even organic PB that turns me off from buying it ever.
No. The only PB I eat is Skippy Natural, which is supposed to be okay. And I don't really buy any of the processed items that contain it. Not even salmonella can keep me away from peanut butter, I looove it.
I buy store brand so nope.
LOVE peanut butter! I'm a JIF girl. And those Uncrustables are bomb!
weird thought - how do you think this is affecting the girl scouts?
I had to toss some Luna and Clif bars and I told my hubby to avoid his beloved PB crackers, but otherwise, I'm just rolling with it.
why don't you mention safe products with peanutbutter
like all Lance Inc products. peanutbutter crakcers.
Is this just in the US? I haven't heard anything about it in Aus. I eat peanut butter on toast for breakfast every morning, yummmm.
