I'm always looking for quick and easy snacks that taste good. After telling you about my salty avocado snack idea, Sugar user The New Black made this snack suggestion. Since I love avocados ever so much, this sounded really delish.

To learn this simple recipe, read more.
- Cut an avocado in half. Use the side without the pit, and save the other half for later since the pit can help keep the green flesh from browning.
- Fill the hole with two ounces of lowfat cottage cheese (I like Breakstone's).
- Use a spoon to scoop bites right out of the avocado peel. You don't even need to bother with dirtying a dish.
This easy snack contains:

I know it seems like a lot of fat, but remember, it's the healthy fat your body needs. It's very low in saturated fat, which is the unhealthy fat. So snack away!

3I'm sure going to try it. Here in Brazil we eat acovatos mostly with sugar. The most delicious way to eat it is blending it with milk and sugar, it is just like a milk shake, but healthier.

5sh*t, avocados
6Oh, we do that too, Sofia. Too bad I can't take the taste of avocados. =/
7i am a big fan of avacado and of cottage cheese but i have to say this combination doesn't appeal!
you need something sharp to compliment the creaminess of the avacado.
i'd rather fill the center with some tuna and low fat mayonnaise!!
8I want to like avocados, but I just can't do it.
9I love avocados!!!!!! I can't take cottage cheese though.. blaaah... who knows maybe i'd like them together?
10Yeah I like them both separately, but the combo sounds unappealing. Tuna or chicken salad could work there though, I'd rather slice them up and put them on a sandwich or taco though.
11I always mix cottage cheese into my avocado when I'm making guacamole--you end up with a larger amount, plus you get a nice amount of protein in. It makes the guac super good and you don't even notice the cottage cheese. Mmmm...
12i like them both and this seems like a very filling snack! Usually i eat my avocados with a squeeze of fresh lemon which stops the flesh from going brown and gives a nice contrast to the creaminess of the avocado!
13eating cottage cheese out of an avocado...i've never heard of anything more unappetizing in my life.
14That sounds really good, JMK. I'm going to try that the next time I make guac.
15I love avocados! A favorite lunch of mine is a half an avocado and a sliced up roma tomato or two, salted and peppered, with some tuna in the avocado... yum!
16both...unsure of that. i prefer my cottage cheese paired with fruit!
17Sounds great to me.
18YUM. I want to try this.
19@ amandaaa: An avocado is a fruit.
I also tend to eat them the way Sofia had mentioned, as a dessert with milk and sugar. Combining fruit and cheese makes sense to me.
20This sounds yummy!!!
21mmm, I'd definitely do this! My hubby and I eat avocados all the time as a snack or as an appetizer... we usually eat them either filled with tuna and mayo, tiny shrimp, or shredded crab. delish
22i'm a big fan of avocado, i love eating avos on their own but i might wanna try this..
23Way late on this, but this sounds absolutely disgusting. The textures are too similar - the idea of putting a soft, bland food inside an avocado makes no sense to me. I think in general, avocados need acid (i.e. lemon or lime juice) for the best taste.
