Certain foods just keep me reaching for more, particularly salty snacks. Refusing to buy the food that makes portion control impossible for you is one way to go, but totally depriving yourself of the things you love is usually asking for trouble. Measure one serving of whatever it is that causes you to overeat and put the larger package away for the next time you have a craving. You might always want more, but savoring the single serving will satisfy without the guilt. Now that you have learned a great technique for dealing with your trigger foods, tell me below what foods cause you to overeat?

Truthfully, my PMS causes to me overeat. It's hormone-driven.
1Pudim. My stomach seems to be able to contain industrial amounts of pudim without ever feeling full! And since I loove pudim, one serving is never enough :$
2I would over eat while taking birth control. I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and that gave me insatiable food cravings. First it was those chocolate chip Tollhouse cookies that you bake, then it was Eggo waffles with butter and syrup, then nachos covered in cheese, and then s'mores.
I went off the pill in October and suddenly all the food cravings disappeared. I've lost 10 lbs since then.
3The only food that really causes me to overeat is ice cream. If I have a carton of it in the freezer, I'll eat huge bowlfulls of it. If I do want to have ice cream, I have to either buy ice cream sandwiches or ice cream bars or go out for an ice cream cone...it's built-in portion control.
4Dry cereal and soy crisps. I can eat a whole bag of crisps easily. And of course PMS with it's lovely cravings for food I'm not actually hungry for.
5From the top of my head: nuts and ice cream. But I'm sure there's more.
6ice cream and cereal. peanut butter and hot chocolate. bread products. oh, cool whip and cream cheese. jeebus.
7i love to eat for the sake of eating though, so it's no wonder i'm 10 lbs heavier than I want to be.
I try to avoid buying those foods, and try to avoid starting to eat them to begin with.
it works.....sometimes.....but lately the ice cream has been calling my name and I WANT it. lol.
right now..everything!
8pizza definitely makes me overeat. it's my weakness.
9the bread they give you before your meal when you go out to eat, i cant get enough! but i make sure i order something lighter if i know im going to be eating somewhere with delicious bread.
10Um, cheese puffs. Thanks a lot!
And pizza also, yum!
11Chocolate chip cookies. Really anything that incorporates chocolate and dough - cake, brownies, cookies. You name it, I can't get enough.
12peanut butter - straight from the jar with a spoon.
13cereal. i can't just eat a little. i can go through a box & still want more. it's like i don't register that i've had enough. so, i've just stopped buying it.
14chocolate! But not really good quality dark chocolate, i think because it is so rich, so I tend to keep a really good quality dark chocolate bar around (around 65 to 72% cocoa) and keep it in the fridge too, that helps portion control too for me because I savor the chocolate in my mouth until it starts to melt which means I can stick to my 1 or 2 square limit easier.
15Raisins. I've never been able to eat 1/4 cup. EVER. I love them but I never keep them at home because I can't control myself. I can eat a whole huge box. LOL I know it's a weird one but it's the first thing that came to mind.
16peanut butter!!!! i can just eat it by the spoonful and can't stop. and cereal definitely.
17I agree with the people who can eat copious and revolting amounts of cereal.
It's so
good and unfortunately it's one of the many foods where I don't realise I'm overly full until I've just about faceplanted into my third bowl. I gained a lot of weight in the days when I ate
bowls of cereal for breakfast! Now I eat either Weetbix (pre-portioned!) with fruit or a porridge and muesli mix with water or soy milk, cooked in the microwave.
Chocolate was another one, which is one reason I can't eat it at all anymore. New Zealand Cadbury Dairy Milk is evilly addictive! I could happily stuff my face with cheap chocolate and would probably only be stopped by eventual nausea!
Biscuits (cookies), for sure. Cheese and bread. Lollies. Licorice. Fruit leather. Pretty much food in general, heh. I like to eat. Which is why I prefer to volume eat. I can eat plates of veggies, vegetarian protein and fruit for the same amount of calories as a small piece of cake, which is pretty much how I avoid overeating the high calorie, rich in saturated fat stuff. By overeating the healthy stuff instead!
18Salty foods tend to make me overindulge. So I watch to salt/sodium content of foods.
Also, simple refined carbs tends to make me want more simple carbs leading to a whole ugly scene of Pringles, Lays, Ritz, salty pretzels, more chips, candy and eventually bloat and nausea hell.
19hummus and pretzel chips
20tortilla chips, pretzels, popcorn. cereal and granola. these foods seem to just egg me on
21Apples!OMG!Its crazy but I can eat only apples all day without getting sick of it
22Wow, I didn't know birth control could cause food cravings. I get insatiable cravings during my period, and I have to agree Eggo Waffles are my crack food....I would put them in my purse if I could, hee hee, sick.
23Chocolate, peanut butter, cereal, and usually anything very sugary. I tend to keep kind of bland foods around because of this (unflavored oatmeal, FiberOne cereal, no PB! etc)
Hmm one of those first comments about birth control is interesting. I'm on it & would love to see if going off made cravings/overeating go away, but unfortunately my "girl time" goes haywire (or disappears) whenever I'm pill-free, so I'm kind of stuck =(
24anything that you eat with rice on the side... so all chinese food and indian food. mmm... i'll eat it till i explode.
25Tortilla chips — I'm obsessed with chips!
26I have a sweet tooth, especially during my TOM.
I crave chocolate, like most other women. So I
opt for 70%+ organic dark chocolate. Another thing that I crave is ice cream. I used to eat it pretty often as a kid, and I really like sorbet or tofutti cuties or soy delicious mini ice
cream sandwiches. Any of those will solve it. I never crave salty foods ever. But in the past, I've also had too much of dry carbs like bread or cereal, even healthy ones... who knows why,
really.
Right now I'm not on BC, but I did gain a little weight while I was on it. I'm not going on it again till I absolutely have to again haha I felt like I was on my period all the time (cravings, crazy moods etc).
27bread and peanut butter!
28Oh bread...so comforting.
Sweet tooth (my mom zucchini-pineapple bread is my weakness) especially during PMS. Or I'd be jonesing for sugar donuts if she's not making me any cakes LOL. I'm not that much into chocolate, I dunno why.
29But during more 'normal' time, I'm into saltier food. Usually everything my mum made...or if I'm by myself, I'd nosh on one of those laughing cow's cream cheese triangle thingie or salt and vinegar 'tato chips. Oh I need to stop thinking about food now...
I could eat risotto until it came out of my ears - and still have room for more!

I completely identify with this, too. If I didn't know better, I would have thought I written this post about myself!
This is one of the ways I stay thin (coming from an obese family). Trust me when I say I'm certainly a member of my family when it comes to having voracious capacity (and appetite) to overeat. I can out-eat most men I come across. The way I staved off being overweight is eating healthy, low-glycemic foods -- large amounts of eat to satisfy my large appetite, Also, I exercise, too, but eating well (and within the right calorie range) plays a bigger part, in my opinion.
31Tortilla Chips, salty crackers, cereals, ice cream, candies, chocolate and Beef Jerky. I just realized all the things I put down above are the snacks that I have at home.
32European bread, oatmeal, granola, cereal,..carbs
33Cheese and Crackers. I could eat them all day.
Bagels, toasted with cream cheese or peanut butter.
Sugar-y cerals are bad too. My BF gets this chocolate and peanut butter Pops cereal.. it's evil.
Mostly it's carbs for me.
34omg hummus and baby carrots, I can eat myself sick on that. its hard too because I think "this is a healthy snack" and then I look down and the WHOLE thing off hummus is gone!!!
35Tortilla Chips! Sometimes cookies, but rarely. I only buy tortilla chips every once in a while, because it is so hard to only eat one serving even when I close up the bag and put it away!
36Definitely peanut butter, cheese nips, and pretzel sticks. I think it's the combination of salty with peanut butter that makes me want to eat so much more than I should!
37Tortilla chips and potato chips.
38Anything Cheesy! I always eat way too much hummus too. It's soo good. Also, I can eat an entire bag of shelled edamame by myself.
39Chips...I can't keep them in the house or I will eat the whole bag. Cheetos puffs in particular, that picture that goes with this post practically has me drooling...
I satisfy my cravings with 100 calorie packs of baked cheetos - I bring one to work a couple days a week and have it as a mid-afternoon snack.
40salty snacks
41bread and cheese. which means nachos and pizza! which means i can't keep such things around the house. or else all of my hard work exercising would be for nothing, because i'd turn into a giant cheeseball.
42Cereal and ice cream and my biggest weakness especially mixed together.
43I'm never satisfied. I over eat cereal almost always, which is about 3 days a week. I can eat up to four bowls in one sitting. And chips/popcorn anything i can eat while watching a movie/tv... mindless eating.. you don't pay attention at all. I don't really care though, I love food. I'm 145lbs and it doesnt bother me.
44Cereal, cookies, ice cream... really anything I don't normally eat. I have the "all or nothing" attitude which is HORRIBLE for eating. If I have one bad thing I just assume the day to be lost so I'll just go for it. Go big or go home right??
45Doritos and Smartfood when I'm PMSing...
46nutella! i can't keep it in my house!
47I'd have to say pizza, especially when accompanied with beer! Three slices minimum!
48Any type of chips! I have to put the bag away or I will just keep going and going and going...
