Whether getting fit is a new goal for 2009, or one you've had for years, the only way to make that happen is to keep regular exercise in your schedule.
I know when you're pulled in multiple directions by life, work, and family, it is easy to rationalize that you just don't have the time to work out. Constantly making excuses can turn into a bad habit though, so make exercise nonnegotiable. Once you decide your workouts are just as important as all your other commitments, you'll be more likely to follow through. Be sure to set up a realistic schedule that you can meet, and once you've written down your workout "appointments" in your daily planner or fitness journal, stick to your plan. Even if you're a little tired, or you'd rather spend the time baking cookies — make no excuses. Put on your workout duds and get moving, because you know afterward you'll feel proud of your follow through.

Exercise is a total non-negotiable for me. It is never bumped off my schedule. Everything else must fit around it. I cannot breathe without it!
1I'm trying to make this a mantra... very hard tho.
2I absolutely agree. Although I've found now that I'm training for something (an olympic triathlon), I am so much more resolute to not miss my work-outs. It's really motivated me!
3Today was the very first time that I told a friend "no, I can't meet you, I have to go to the gym". We still met, only after my work out. I was so proud of myself
4I always make exercise non-negotiable. If I have plans, I schedule them around my workouts or I schedule my workouts around my plans. That way, I have no excuses.
5I wanted to skip Spinning today because I was too tired from work, but I'm glad I read your post since it gave me a bit of a boost.
6yeah.. just like now
i should be on the treadmill machine instead of keep reading fitsugar haha
but hey fitsugar is good for you too
7This is why I exercise in the morning. I think everyone should, if possible. I am not a morning person, but once it gets to be late afternoon/night and I am so tired from other things I've done that day, at times I just do not feel like exercising. But if I do it in the morning, it's absolutely non-negotiable and has tons of other benefits as well.
8you know what? This has ABSOLUTELY been the reason I ahve stuck to my resolution.
9I do kickboxing 4x a week, and weight train 3-4x a week.
There have been days where normally, I would ahve brushed it off. But now, no way hosea
i am lucky, because I am a teacher at a school for professional athletes, so there is a fitnessroom in the building as well. 2/3 times a week me and my colleagues go for workouts after work together and it's great fun. it makes them nonnegotiable, because everytime one of us tries to cancel, the others have all day to prevent him or her from actually cancelling.
