If you're trying to get fit for 2009, you're certainly not alone. When setting New Year's resolutions, sometimes you'll have better luck focusing on several small goals than one major one. Sure, it's easy to say you'll be running a 5k by February, but just in case something gets in the way of your big aspiration, add some easily reachable resolutions to your list as well.
Taking some inspiration from your resolutions for 2009, I've come up with nine health and fitness goals that are totally attainable in 2009. To see what they are, read more.
- Drink one extra glass of water a day
- Cut out soda, diet or otherwise
- Spend five minutes a day on a relaxation exercise
- Take the stairs whenever possible
- Floss once (or twice) a day
- Work out at least three times a week
- Eat an extra serving of fruits and vegetables every day
- Go to bed one hour earlier
- Make an effort to improve your posture

now these, I can do! thanks Fit!
1Eat a small snack before going out to dinner.
2How did you know my new years resolution was to floss every day?
3These sound quite reasonable! I don't know about cutting out the diet soda, though... I looooove my fizzy drinks.
4These are all things I try to do daily.
5I was already committed to standing taller in 2009, and the others are great additions
6Most of these I can do! I can't help when I go to sleep, if I went to sleep any earlier, I'd be asleep on the job and the way home. (I get 8-9 hours, though, so I think I'm doing OK)
Soda will be the hard one for me.
7awesome! i've been doing all of these except for 3 & 9. need to add them to my list.
reallysparkle: i now drink zip fizz instead of soda. it's an energy drink mix you put in 16-20 oz. of water. has some caffeine, no sugar, lots of vitamins, only 10 calories a serving AND it fizzes your water. the fizzies only last a little while unless you shake the bottle everyone in awhile, but it's still better than non-fizzy water or soda. you can get it at Costco or Target. (Costco has better deals.)
8these are really good resolutions. I will try to do these everyday
9Good resolutions. I am definitely going to try to incorporate some of these into my life. Especially the relaxation exercises and flossing. I should probably go to bed earlier, but I get 7 or 8 hours of sleep per night, so I think I'm doing OK.
10good list!
11easy.. and attainable.
skip "useless" and "nutritionless" desserts
or.. in other words, only have your treats up to twice a week
12They're all great, except I cannot and will not give up diet soda. It's my one and only vice and I'm sticking with it. I just make up for it by drinking more water than soda throughout the day.
13I think this year I'm really going to cut soda unless ginger ale is needed for the tummy.
Other than that, I'm cutting it out. I hardly drink it as it is. I will definitely be upping my water intake! This is definitely a good list.
