Dirty Dancing star, Patrick Swayze, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. Though he's outlived his early bleak prognosis, Swayze refuses to give up. Patrick realizes his days are running out but hopes he has at least two years left and is hoping that doctors will find a cure in that time frame. Although admittedly scared, he's living "moment to moment," and Swayze continues the battle saying, "So far, I've got potential for a lot of quality of life."
Patrick hasn't spoken much about his condition since being diagnosed; this changes tonight. This evening on 20/20, he answers questions and talks candidly about his experience in an interview with Barbara Walters, in a special called Patrick Swayze: The Truth.

We are rooting for Patrick, and with him, we are hoping for the best.

My grandma died of cancer 3 days after Christmas, so I feel for Patrick. I hope he stays as pain free as possible and when he goes he is next to someone he loves.
1I'm sorry for your loss foxie.
I'm glad Patrick is realistic about his diagnosis and is seizing the moment. It'll leave good memories for those he leaves behind.
2My uncle passes away from Pancreatic cancer almost three years ago, he was above normal surviving with it for 4 years. I'm glad Patrick has the courage to speak out about this awful cancer and bring more light to the need for research and treatments. I wish him all the luck in the world and I hope he fights hard!
3My dad died of cancer after a long battle, beating it and it coming back. I wish Patrick and his family the best. He is looking stronger by the days.
4Buddy is staying super positive as is his Mama Patsy. They're family friends. His mama is so sweet that she's all upset that my sister has cancer now too at the same time as Buddy. She's convinced that both pf them will beat it. And I for one will not doubt Patsy Swayze.
5he's really got this great outlook on things even though he's realistic about what things are going to be like. i just hope that there's enough medicine so that he can at least get the best out of whatever time he has left.
6My grandpa died of pancreatic cancer. When he was diagnosed, the doctors said he had 6 months to live -- he died a week later...
7My brother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died 13 days later. He was only 39.
8Pancreatic cancer is unfortunately one of the least curable forms of cancer, mostly because it's so hard to detect early on. Cancer is a nasty disease and I'll be praying for everyone whose lives have been affected by it.
9I wish he would quit smoking. You'd think having cancer would make you want to stop.
10may he live his life to the fullest until his time comes. i've always liked him and the movies he's made.
11I saw his interview last night. Coming out of a dark year myself, it does not compare to the depths he has gone through. It makes me feel grateful that I have my health. I wish him only the best.
12This creeps me out because I've been living with medication induced pancreatitis since August.
