You probably have a list of foods you try to avoid because you know they're not good for you (or your waistline). Wouldn't our lives would be much easier if the foods that were healthy for us were the decadent and savory foods we craved? Imagine lusting for steamed broccoli instead of a slice of chocolate cream pie! Unfortunately, it doesn't work out that way. So tell me, which foods do you hate, but force yourself to eat because you know they're nutritious?

Well first off I force myself to drink green tea but as far as foods I think most everything I eat I like. I eat enough of certain veggies and fruits for nutrition that I don't really eat the ones I hate to get vitamins.
1Whole grains. *makes face* I LOVE white bread!
2Broccoli. I put it in stir-fries, but only because it's good for me.
3If I have to force myself, I probably won't eat it. The closest I come to that is forcing myself to have at least some of something I've made if it didn't come out that great because I don't want to waste food. It's a good thing I like a lot of healthy things, plus I'm very willing to try out different recipes. I make sure to eat the fruits and veggies I actually like so I don't have bother with something I really don't.
4It USED to be salads for me but I've actually started craving them of late. Funny how after making yourself eat something for long enough you eventually start to enjoy it....
5I hate fruit... I force myself to eat them occasionally but they are too sweet. I love grains and veggies so those are what I choose. The rest of my diet is vegan (for food allergy reasons).
Oh and I force myself to each chocolate too.
6I love all the food I eat, but I don't especially love spinach. I add it to my salads to add nutrition and color, but on its own I don't crave it.
7I'm not a fan of blueberries. I hate the texture and how they feel when you bite into them. But they get raves for being one of the most antioxidant fruits so I put a handful on my cereal in the morning.
8Whenever out at a restaurant and the vegetable side is broccoli I force myself to eat the vile weed. I admit, it doesn't taste as detestable as it used to but it is still no bueno.
9I never force myself to eat something just b/c it's healthy - I love brocolli, spinach, blueberries!!
I do force myself to drink water all day, even if I don't feel like it. I also switched to decaf coffee, but luckily you can't really taste that.
10I force myself to drink H2O when I'm not thirsty.
11As for food, I LOVE 90% of fruits and veggies, and I adore whole grains. I love my unhealthy stuff too, but I am definitely a fan of the healthy foods.
I did at one point in my life have to recover from an eating disorder, during which time I had to force myself to eat higher-calorie foods, supplements, and larger quantities, but I'm over that now. I'm at the point where if I don't like something I won't force myself to eat it. I'm healthy with the foods I enjoy.
Blueberries.
I hate them because they have no taste to me. I apparently lack some specific taste receptor for blueberries for they taste like BLAH.
But I throw them in my smoothie anyway.
I love broccoli and brussel sprouts and shoot I even love soy milk and tofu now so as usual it's something simple and weird that I wackdoodle do not like. I'd probably like Green eggs and ham without any prodding from Sam.
12i have to force myself to eat more oranges...i hate the texture, but i love OJ.
13i think i like pretty much everything, except for fish. i absolutely DESPISE it. it honestly makes me gag, from the look of it to the smell...echhh! my family loves it, though, but they know i hate it, so its rarely served to me. but, when it is, i know its healthy, so i literally put it in my mouth and swallow- no chewing or tasting! one thing i love is broccoli, and people tell me to stop eating it sometimes because its not good for your stomach...but i can't stop! it's so good!
14I love all my fruits and veggies except, not to be like Bush Sr., but I am not a broccoli fan. I'm also not fond of most green beans. But I have no problem eating them anyway!
15nothing really. maybe a banana after I run a marathon. I detest bananas. I like enough healthy food that if I don't like something, I don't eat it. Broccoli is my favorite vegetable. I could eat it everyday for every meal.
16i also can't stand bananas. uck. they are so cloying.
17After detoxing my taste buds, I really enjoy most healthy foods.
Tempeh is still tricky for me, though.
18Raw carrots and tomatoes! I'm also not too fond of asparagus and I can't force myself to eat bitter greens. But that's pretty much it. I like most other vegetables and I love all whole grains and fruit.
19I absolutely cannot stand cherries! They are so good for you but they taste awful to me. I also don't really care for blueberries but I can stand those mixed in yogurt.
20I've never met a healthy food I didn't like. It must be my Eastern European ancestry that makes me love the veggies and grains most people hate. Pile on the cabbage, beets, Brussels sprouts, and barley! I also adore tofu, tempeh, seitan, etc., even though I enjoy meat.
21me too jdeprima! my mom is from hungary, and i think thats why i looovvee all veggies, fruit, tofu and tempeh and setian and whole grains. people always make fun of me for always eating healthy all the time, esp. my husband.
the only thing i would have to force myself to eat is asapargus.and im really bad about taking vitamins.
22Broccoli and carrots. I am trying to force myself to eat oatmeal but it is too much for me. I almost always gag and spit it back up.
23Broccoli! I'm hoping that one day it'll actually grow on me. I try to put it in rices and steam it but it's awful. So far, only stir-fry tastes alright with it. Also, I don't completely understand it. Can I just eat it raw? I know that's a ridiculous question.
24I hate tomatoes, but I really FORCE myself to eat them in any way. I also don't like cherries and blueberries, but until now, I still can't eat much of them. Some other stuff I really can't eat even if I force myself crazy: beef, pork, mutton, turkey, cucumbers, raisins, some nuts. The weird thing though is that most people I know cannot stand bitter fruit, but I love it (esp with egg and shrimp).
25Fish.
26Mushrooms but I hardly ever eat them!
27I can eat and like most fruits and vegtables. I do hate brousel sprouts and aspargus though. I never liked them as a kid and still hate them as an adult. One veg that I do not like but do eat occassionally is red beets. I read that red beets are very very good for you with alot of vitamins and minerals and reduce the risk of cancer. So I try to eat them every once in a while, but I hate the texture too. They make me gag sometimes.
28I don't like brown rice. But I'll eat it if its a choice between brown and white because I know brown is better for you. I like most veggies. Broccoli to me is good steamed but raw is not so great. Sometimes when I am steaming broccoli I will eat some raw before I cook it because I know it has more nutrients in it. It's better when I have some hummus near by to dip it in.
29Right now, it's unsweetened soy milk. I'm trying to remove unnecessary sugar from my diet, so I've been drinking that instead of regular soy milk. I miss the sugar! However, it is getting a little easier. It's been day number three with unsweetened soy milk, and I'm beginning to get to used to it.
Oh, I'm drinking unsweetened coffee in the mornings, too. That's hard. Again, I miss the sugar. Like with the soy milk, it's been day number three, and it is getting easier.
I really want to stick to this. I think I will be healthier in the long run.
30At the beginning of trying to go vegan, I had to force myself to include tofu in my diet. It took me a while to apppreciate the taste but I'm there now so no more force feeding!
31Yeah probably bananas, but I'll eat them after a long run or if there's nothing else healthy around to snack on. But they must be spotted and soft, I hate hate hate the green starchy bananas!
32Hahaha I actually do prefer broccoli over pie. I like pretty much all healthy foods. I don't have a sweet tooth. My problem is all the carbs that eat in addition to the good stuff like pumpernickle bread, crackers etc...
33fruit, in general. i really just hate the sweetness for some reason. i love even the weirdest of vegetables, like broccoli, brussels sprouts, swiss chard, and everything in between, but the only fruit i really willingly buy are avocados and tomatos, probably because i consider them more vegetable than fruit!
34Fruit its to sweet for me even some sweet veggies like pumpkin, but I usually love all veggies if its not sweet, love healthy food like brown rice, wholeweat bread etc.
35I love healthy foods - especially whole grains. I was really happy when the whole grain trend became big and I got to use that as an excuse to buy the more expensive bread. ("It's for my HEART!")
I'm allergic to a lot of fresh fruits and veggies, though. The few fresh foods that I can eat (like bananas) I get REALLY sick of, but eat them anyway because I need my fresh fruit.
36When it comes to eating, I don't force myself either. There's plenty of choices, so there's no need. But I force myself to drink my teas without (or at least with only a bit) of sugar although they would taste so much better with 2 teaspoons *sigh*.
37Plain yogurt over vanilla. Trying to eat less sugar...
38I like most healthy foods--I have a slight aversion to peas though, they just remind me of school food or something. I also cannot stand green tea. I know its ridiculously good for you, but it tastes terrible!! Therefore, I have given up trying to drink it, because I usually just end up wasting it.
39I rarely meet a food that I don't like. I love broccoli, brussel sprouts, asparagus, berries, bananas, oranges, apples, etc. The one thing that I'd say I do for the benefit of being healthy (versus eating what I like) is substituting healthier versions of certain foods versus things I like better. I love vanilla yogurt, but I eat non-fat plain yogurt, which doesn't taste nearly as good. I eat whole wheat pasta, which isn't bad, but not nearly as good as the regular kind.
40Beaner reminded me that I bought plain yogurt last week but I have yet to open it. :| Guess that's a tough one for me, too.
Also, water. I like it enough, but I really have to push myself to drink as much as I need, especially when there is better stuff to drink.
41Raw carrots. I can't stand them, but I eat them anyway.
42Nuts of any sort. Peanuts, cashews, almonds...but I find them so disgusting that I usually can't eat too many of them.
43I love eggs... but hate egg whites. Also, green team is so bad, but I try to force myself to take in the mornings.
44I used to eat broccoli no problem, but I've been having to only have them in stir fry. I didn't used to be like this!
45I like most healthy things, but sometimes it's a chore to eat the bottom greens of a salad when all the other toppings are gone.
46" I am trying to force myself to eat oatmeal but it is too much for me. I almost always gag and spit it back up."
I eat oatmeal uncooked and sweetened with honey and sometimes I add toasted almonds (that I toast myself). I can't eat cooked oatmeal without gagging.
47oh tomatoes...how i loathe them. nonethelesss i find myself shutting my eyes tight and mentally bracing myself every time I eat them instead of avoiding them....gross
48being a vegetarian, i'm pretty much always looking for new fruits and veggies to have since my diet can get to be very blah after a while. i find that it's getting to be harder for me to eat salads since that's the fail safe that a lot of people go to when they are trying to feed me. it's like they don't know what else to make, and so a salad it is, and to be honest, i really don't care for lettuce. it's not that i don't like it, it's just not a food that i like to eat. (if that makes sense)
49hmm..i like most foods, but my boyfriend makes some things that i dont particularly care for and will choke down if i'm too lazy to make my own dinner
i dont like brown rice. or squash...ew. but i like enough nutritious things that i really
dont eat anything i dont like just for that reason.
