My friend recently divulged to me that she has downloaded all her Christmas music onto her iPod and has been listening to it at the gym while she works out. She says that it not only gets her into the spirit, but the cheerful tunes also remind her of the good things she is doing for herself in such a busy time. It's a great idea, but I am not sure if I'll be putting holiday songs on my iPod anytime soon. What about you guys . . .

NOT BY CHOICE!
My gym tunes into radio and tv stations that have nothing but holiday music on at the moment.
Nope. I stick with fast poppy stuff for my workouts. Sometimes it's literally the only thing making me go forward
By the time the holidays roll around I am bored with my work out music, so listening to Christmas music is refreshing.
Yup
love God Rest Ye Merry Gentlmen by Barenaked Ladies/ Sarah McLaughlan and All I Want for Xmas is You by Mariah Carry.
Yes, I've downloaded a few Christmas songs onto my mp3. I mix them in with some of my other "regular" workout songs.
No way! I love to listen to Christmas music when I'm home and sitting by the fire and playing with my kids- holiday stuff and activities. But not for working out. It does very little to motivate me.
The instructors in my spin classes try to pop in a few holiday songs with a strong beat. It's fun to be in the Christmas spirit while we work out!
no thanks.
No way.
Not only are most Christmas songs far too mellow for my workout, but there's always some lyric about holiday "treat" food that makes me hungry! Double the trouble...
Only when I'm at the gym where they play Christmas music through the loudspeaker. Even then, I try to drown it out by listening to my own music. Christmas music is fine, but not to work out to.
no...not fast enough of a beat for me. i like music that keeps the beat going..so i keep going
I tried this the other morning because I was bored with my workout playlist, but only with the fast songs, like those by Mariah Carey. It was good while I was doing brisk walking on the treadmill, but I switched back to pop music for jogging. I don't exactly enjoy exercise, so I tend to associate the songs that I listen to with the pain of working out, heh. Agreeing with the poster above, I'd rather listen to holiday music while sitting in front of the tree with a mug of peppermint tea.
Holiday music does not inspire/motivate me to work out. Plus I have to listen to it 10 hrs/day 5 days/wk at work.
It's fun to make Mariah "All I Want For Christmas is You" on as your last song and sprint it out!!
Considering the fact that I was about 8 years of age before I figured out that the chorus to "Silent Night" was "sleep in heavenly peace," and not "sleep in heavenly peas," I would have to say no. Nothing against peas, of course.
puts me in a happy mood and keeps me upbeat
Nah. I prefer my Madonna fuled work outs.
haha no!
By the time Christmas is actually around I am so, so tired of all the songs being played... ANYWHERE you go, fleeing to workout to some serious hard, fast or punk-y tunes is just heavenly!
Try listening to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It's so different from traditional holiday music, that I've even found myself listening to it while running in the middle of the summer.
Are you kidding me? Holiday music on an Ipod for workouts?? Thats like an oxymoron. I'm sorry but roasting chestnuts on an open fire is not a good match for treadmills and stairmasters. It would be a joke for spinning or aerobics classes. That's why you never hear it then, and you never will. If you want to hear it, be on a sled in Sweden somewhere with a blanket on your lap.
