Blood is essential to our living, yet I know many people who aren't sure what type of blood is running through their veins. A simple test involving a needle can tell you whether you're a type A, B, AB, or O. If you're a type O, then you're considered a universal donor because anyone can receive type O blood.
I'm type A positive, what about you?

found out a year ego and i'm 21. felt ashamed before when i didn't know my blood
type and i think everyone should know theirs
1O+ and i have donated blood once... but i'm not an organ donor... my organs are pretty sh*tty i've had a pancreatic problems twice in the past 3 years... i dont drink alcohol at all, so i can't think f a reason to have panreatitus twice.. Plus, i have stomach problems, intestinal problem and such... i'd feel bad giving anyone hope that they could have my organs n then theyd just fail on them...
2A+ too!
3(i prefer to write it with the + symbol-- it makes me feel like i have overachieving blood)
I'm A+ too
4A- ... it tries harder
5I am O- and I always donate when I am able since my blood type is in need!
6B+...could try harder, but is content.
7O+... universal donor, the humanitarian lol. i found out about a year ago when i donated blood for the first time. i would have donated more throughout the year, but i had oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth a few months after that, so i think they would have turned me away because of that. oh and i want to be an organ donor when i die, as well =)
8A pos.
9B Positive - it's my blood type and my motto!
10A- here. If both my parents are O how did I get to be A? My mom is O+ and my dad is O-. My dad's sister is AB-.
11O + .... I've donated but not in a while. I need to do that again soon
12O+...i would love to donate but i can't because (1) i don't weigh enough and (2) i'm slightly anemic
13I'm A+.
14O-
15O- .I can't donate though, because I finished a medical treatment just a few days ago; I need to wait 6 months I think.
16O+! weird! cuz i just found out today!
and i'm totally with
Stacey Cakes, for those same reasons i can't donate either .
17You have to pay extra here to be told your blood type! I have no idea what mine is. I'm fairly sure I am 0+ as it was on my first health card... it's somewhere... my mother probably knows.
My boyfriend is A+ I think.
18AB Positive. Blood banks usually love me. I am due to donate in early February (a year after I traveled in some restricted spots).
19I don't think it's a big deal if you don't know. A lot of GPs don't bother to type when they order blood work, unless the patient specifically asks. And even if you know, you'll be typed again before surgery or donating blood.
20O+, everyone should know!
21A +
22O-...been donating since high school. Be a lifesaver - donate blood! Everytime you donate, you have the opportunity to save 3 lives with just one donation!
23AB+
24I'm A+!
25B+. I should know because I donate blood. =)
26I'm B-! Pretty rare, only 1.5% of the population is B-, so the blood banks like me. Just for the record, the universal donor is O- specifically, not just O. Gotta love all the fun weird medical stuff I learned working in a blood bank!
27O, but not sure if I'm negative or positive. After I donated for the first time in november, I got a voicemail from American Red Cross thanking me for donating since I'm type O and that's the universal donor, but it didn't say O- or O+. And I haven't received my donor card yet.
28AB+
29I'm an O but I have no RH factor response for positive however when they look to see if I'm negative the Blood Center cannot definitively say that I am negative either. I don't have the appropriate markers in my blood.
I inherited this bit of weirdness from my mom who also neither positive nor negative. Sometimes she'd read as positive, sometime she have no response and be considered negative- most of the time they could not make a pronouncement either way. The inability to determine whether we're positive and rule out that she was negative actually caused my mom some serious health problems when she had to have a blood transfusion. The hospital used universal donor blood and she nearly died in response. The thought was that she switched from positive to negative during her pregnancy with my oldest brother.
30As a blood donor I know I am O+
31B+
32I'm an O-, I would like to say that I have donated but I haven't. Every time I get my blood drawn I pass out or come very close to fainting. That is just with 1 vile of blood being taken.
33A+ !!!
34Confession--I had to double check my Red Cross blood donor card to be sure.
B+
35A-
36As I learned from my blood donations and my multiple surgeries.
I'm B+ too. I thought we were kind of rare, but seems to be pretty popular here.

38alliep627, it's high school biology: gene engeniring course. at least here in europe they teach us that. anyway O is made from ab genes, A is made from Aa genes, B is made from Bb genes and AB is made from AB genes. all a and b come together, so basicly mom either a or b connect to dad either a or b and they get a baby with ab. For you to be A and your sister AB you need to have parents with A and B blood types. sorry. http://www.biologycorner.com/resources/bloodtype_chart.gif your mom must have cheated on your dad...
39alliep627,
Are you sure you're not O and that your parents are A? If they're both O, then you'd be O as well. You can have type O blood with type A for both parents. And Allytta, her aunt is the one with AB blood. I misread it at first myself.
I'm B- myself.
Random fact: AB is the universal recipient. They can receive blood from all blood types.
40B-. I was curious, and my doctor humored me once when I needed other blood work done.
I'd donate if I could, but banks won't let me. Something about "Mad Cow".
41when i was younger, my mom gave me a little trick to remember my blood type, just in case. she would always tell me that my bloodtype matched the perfect grade...A+!! so since i was about 4 i always told people i had perfect blood
42A+. i used to give blood but since I react badly to it being drawn ie. chills, throwing up, fainting, I stopped.
43O+ and a frequent blood donor!
44O+ and i've been donating blood since i turned 17
45I'm an A+ and I would be donating blood, but I got a tattoo in August, so I have to wait a year. I'm really excited though because I have the same blood type as my sister. Since she has surgery every few years, I'm going to designate my blood for her next time.
Also, her life was saved and will be saved every couple of years by organ donors, SO DONATE YOUR ORGANS.
46O+
47i'm A+ (and CMV-).
48I'm O+, but I can't donate blood because I don't weigh enough and I have a genetic clotting disorder (for some reason, my platelets are very very small and misshapen, so it takes longer for me to clot up). I'm not the universal donor though...that would be O-. My mom is O+ and my dad doesn't know his blood type, but we know for sure he's not AB. alliep627: Alytta's partially right about how blood type is inherited. It's more like this: Type A and type B blood types can have one of two genotypes. It's either AA or AO (type A) and BB or BO (type B). Type O blood is always OO and type AB blood is always AB. So if your parents are both O, you'd HAVE to have type O blood. It IS possible for you to have O blood if your parents are both A or B though...are you sure that's not the case with you? Because if your mom has AO blood and your dad has AO or BO blood, you have a 1 in 4 chance of being type O.
49B- is my type.
