I'm really happy that yoga is gaining in popularity these days, because it's so good for everybody. Whether you're training for a marathon, recovering from an injury, dealing with chronic back pain, are pregnant, or just need to de-stress, the ancient practice of yoga can help. Apparently it's also good for celebs too. Madonna, Brooke Shields, Adam Levine, Drew Barrymore, and Naomi Watts are all into practicing yoga.
So is Jennifer Aniston. When asked about her favorite yoga poses, Jennifer said in a recent interview with People, "I'm so terrible with names . . . Child pose. And it's a mix between that and Tree pose. [Tree] has good balance and I like how it feels."
These two poses are basic poses you'd learn in a beginner yoga class, but they're poses that you'll continue to do until you're an experienced yogi. To find out the benefits of these tranquil poses read more.
| Child's Pose is one of my favorites too because it's so relaxing. Lowering your head below your heart has this calming effect on your mind, and it's a great pose to do if you're feeling stressed or tired. Child's Pose is recommended for people with lower back pain. It's also the perfect pose to do in a yoga class if your arms need a break, or if you feel your breathing becoming too erratic. | ![]() |
| Tree is a wonderful balancing pose because it doesn't require a ton of muscular strength. When your bent leg is resting on the inner thigh of your straight leg, it's actually quite stable. So you can stay in this position for a while, just breathing and feeling your connection with the ground. | ![]() |

i have to agree. these poses are one of my favorites too! Yoga rules!
1I'm not a huge fan of yoga :/ I guess I haven't done enough of it maybe...? I just like cardio the best - running, biking, dancing, and elliptical. I like to feel that I'm working my body, although I guess it wouldn't help to feel more "in tune" with it as they say. And Jennifer looks great... I hope when I am near 40 I can look like that (or at age age, haha)
2I'm going to have to take up yoga if there's half a chance of having a body like Jennifer's. She looks amazing.
3I hate yoga. I'd rather dance. You get to keep your boobs and have hips and a nice booty too
4Mesayme - You've got to try Ashtanga Yoga or fast-paced Vinyasa. It tones every muscle in your body!
5Child's pose is really great before bedtime, imo!
6Yoga is pretty intense. Its really about stability, muscle strength and of course, flexibility. I remember my first couple of classes I was sweating like crazy! Though Im already pretty flexible its still very challenging...in a good way.
7i love yoga. seriously, it's great exercise and a lot of dancers do it! my butt, legs, arm, core are all challenged and get a really nice sore (from working out) the next day. it enhances your flexibility, and it's a pretty balanced strength workout, imo
8I love yoga, I started in September and it's my favorite form of exercise now. I've been doing cardio for so long and I noticed more of a difference in my body by doing yoga. I am more toned and feel stronger.
9I love yoga, perhaps not as mush as I love Pilates, but it definitely has its own benefits. Ever since I started practicing Yoga, I've noticed a change, especially in my butt and thighs. They're way more toned and lifted, so how could THAT be bad?!
10Love yoga. I did my teacher training this year and it was one of the most intense experiences ever, physically as well as emotionally and spiritually. The variety of physiques in my trainings was inspirational as well.
I love pilates and teach it enough but I literally get to put my whole being into yoga when I take or teach it. I feel complete. Pilates is more mechanical for me.
