If you're anything like me you have major guilt doing any kind of outdoor activity without your beloved dog. Hopping on my bike would be a lot more rewarding if I could bring Bear (my dog) along, but it's just too dangerous. Ah, those puppy dog eyes are a killer though, aren't they...
So with this in mind, some imaginative dog lovers have created the Walky Dog ($39.95), which is a bicycle dog leash that attaches to the bike's frame that lets you ride your bike. This way, you can give your dog the complete outdoor experience along with you. Dogs need exercise too, so now you can give both of you a good work out. Want one? Then buy it directly from WalkyDog.com.

I would be afraid that the dog would streak off after a squirrell and pull me sideways to the ground.....
1You'd definitely have to do some serious training with your pooch to use this...I'm with ya cravinsugar.
2oh heck no my greyhound would kill me!
3Neat but probably takes a while to get use to???
4sounds like fun - until you come to a pole and you go on one side and your dog decides to go on the other...or like cravinsugar said, your dog decides which direction you are going to go!
5Haahahhaha I did attempt to ride my bike with my dog before. I have a nice sweet lil pit bull but she's strong as hell and she took off running and i was caught off guard and mannnn i went DOWN! it was an ugly mess! hahah I've never tried again since then, forget it, that hurt!
6Haha! That looks dangerous!
7Just make sure your dog can keep up! Remember that small dogs with little legs have to work much harder than you do and make sure you give them lots of H2O!
8As great as this would be...I'm afraid it would be extremely dangerous...for me anyways lol. My huge dog would probably pull me into a bush with him!
9So, I just came across this post when I did a search for "bike" (I just got a new one) and I was disappointed to see the comments about a dog running off towards a squirrel or something. I don't know how this device works, exactly, but if you tie your dogs leash to your bike directly below your seat, it will be nearly impossibly for your dog to pull you over. I don't know why exactly, something to do with your center of gravity, but anyways, it's not dangerous.
10... sorry for the second post, I also wanted to mention (in case it wasn't obvious by the notes/pics above or my previous post) ...
The K-9 Bike Jogger (aka Walky Dog) is a variable spring-loaded device that absorbs the shock of a tug or pull (sort-of like a bungee cord) and The Springer, of course, is a giant spring.
In most cases (we and our Customers have found) when the dog tries a tug or a direction chamge and experiences the resistance, they come back into line, stop pulling and move along.
Also, in most cases it is very bad for the dog to use these products with a collar. A harness is best for their neck and spine.
As to the K-9 Cruiser (not bungee or shock-corrded) I find these best for smaller dogs (not too small, of course). This one can be used with a collar as the dog is not likely to pull you along.
The instructions with tHe SPringer and the K-9 Bike Jogger specifically warn against using them with dogs under 20 Lbs.
