This year, instead of buying a tree that's already chopped down, why not make an outing to a Christmas tree farm to cut down your own tree? Not only will you be supporting a local family-owned business, but you'll get some exercise hiking through the rows of trees to find the perfect one. Then once you find it, you'll burn some calories sawing it down by hand. Even if the whole process only takes 30 minutes, you'll still burn at least 100 calories. If you're not sure where to go in your area, check out this Christmas Tree Farm Directory. Happy decorating!

Haha how fun, this reminds me of national lampoon's christmas vacation! Claaark
1My family used to do this every year. So much fun!
2We did this a couple of weekends ago. It was fun and the whole process of lugging the tree everywhere also adds to it. It was fun finding the "perfect" little tree.
3I actually just cut down my first Christmas tree this past weekend. My friends just bought a house that has a tree farm on the property. It was such a great experience! Our tree is huge and beautiful and it feels good to know that I was able to chop it down and yell "TIMBER" and to support my friends in their new business!!
4My family used to do this every single year when we were kids. It was one of my absolute FAVORITE traditions. We actually kept doing it up until I got married...we only stopped doing it last year because my parents got a stupid fake tree. But now my husband and I go to cut one and it's super fun. But we don't go to a tree farm...we buy a $5 license from the state to go to the Wisconsin State Forest and we cut one from there. They aren't always as perfect as the farmed ones, but they are a heckuva lot cheaper.
5i cut down a christmas tree for the first time last month.. it was awesome. and what a workout hahah
