Did you know that if applied incorrectly, an SPF 30 sunscreen is actually SPF 20?
SPF 30 sunscreen may provide significantly less protection when not enough is used. To get the most out of your sunscreen, use one ounce, enough to fill a shot glass (or your palm). This is the amount needed to cover the exposed areas of the body (arms, legs, neck and face of the average adult) properly. So stock up, use it liberally and reapply often (especially after you towel off).

And watch for expiration dates! Don’t use last year’s sunscreen. AND don’t use cheap no-name brands either. I was in Cancun Mexico last year and the convention I was at gave us company logo sunscreen that smelled 100% better than my Neutrogena brand. Well – my back was like lobster in a couple hours!
1Putting on sunscreen is a habit I need to get myself into. When I use sunscreen, rarely do I use that much. It feels too slimy for me. The amount I use is more like when I use lotion.
Thank's for the head's up Fit!
2Thanks for telling, I guess I really use too little.
3Interesting. I am with cutelilbunny in that I am bad at using it and really need to get in the habit.
4Good to know.
5Thanks! I burn like there's no tomorrow so it's always good to know ways to keep safe.
6That's a lot to use! I have been using the Neutrogena Cooling Mist Spray, SPF 30, but it doesn't work that well (I'm outside a lot on the weekends), I have to keep re-applying and it's super greasy (even though it says non-greasy on the can. Any good recommendations on non-greasy sunscreens?
7im the only one of my friends that applies sunscreen...i make sure i use it....last year Boots ran an ad for their sunscreen that really stuck in my mind...
...it was a picture of a girl who in 30 years gets skin cancer casue she didnt use sunscreen when she was younger..it REALLY made an IMPRESSION on me..so now, i apply sunscreen to myself and my boyf(despite his protests) hihi
8i love coppertone's sport line. it's the most non-greasy sunscreen i've ever found (i'm sort of a sunscreen junkie since i had pre-cancerous condition on my nose when i was 8!). i get it now in the continuous spray kind, which is sooooo great since you just spray and you go, there's no rubbing in. however, the spray kind is greasier than the normal kind, but i don't really care. i like the look of just-put-baby-oil-on. the coppertone sport line is great because it was made for athletes who don't want their hands to slip when they're being active. i got into it when i was in high school and needed a way to protect myself but still be able to stunt at cheer camp without my hands slipping. so that's my recommendation.
great advice, fit! i didn't know that could happen. but i've never been guilty of too little sunscreen since i was 8.
