If you've been curious to try a kettlebell workout but your gym doesn't offer one, then work it at home with The Firm Kettlebell Kit ($25). It comes with a five-pound kettlebell and a 45-minute DVD to show you how to use it.

I'm new to the kettlebell scene, but now I am a convert. Instead of just using dumbbells or resistance bands, I've been adding kettlebell exercises to my routine and have noticed a huge difference in my strength. That's because the exercises involve using momentum, acceleration, and deceleration instead of static movements. For details on the DVD, read more.
The video starts with a five-minute aerobics class warmup that's easy to follow but very effective. Then you grab your kettlebell and get right into the workout. The instructor is super-energetic and doesn't stop for a second, which I love. She leads you through alternating intervals of about five minutes of kettlebell exercises, and then five minutes of cardio moves without the kettlebell, so you keep your heart rate up the entire time.
The exercises include moves you've done a million times, such as squats, lunges, and glute kickbacks, but swinging the kettlebell at the same time makes these basic exercises more challenging and more effective since you're targeting both your upper and lower body. The best part was the bonus ab and back routine at the end. I'd definitely recommend this Kettlebell Kit to anyone who wants to try a dynamic workout that combines cardio and strength-training.

Wow, thanks Fit. I have been looking for something like this.
1Someone at work was telling me about this, is it really MUCH different?
2Looks fun. I love the firm
3I definitely want one.
4I love kettlebells!
5This is really affordable.
6I've heard it's very important to have proper alignment and posture using kettlebells.
7I've worked my way up to a 15lb kettlebell, but I'm sure this would be a great intro! I've toned up and increased my strength exponentially in a year.
8Wow, that's a great price for the kit...I've always wanted to try kettlebells and this might be the perfect opportunity.
9i bought my kettlebell at play it again sports. theres a bunch of awesome kettlebell workouts on youtube. i love my kettlebell
10Thanks for the tip; I just ordered it! The one bummer is that the shipping costs are kind of hefty given that you're basically ordering a weight. If you're looking to order it, be sure to check out these promo codes.

11Everyone:
A 5 lb kettlebell will do nothing but harm your form. If you can't lift 5 lbs...how are you standing up? Use gripper plates if you want to find a good deal.
Women should start off with a 26 lb kettlebell for swings and an 18 lb kettlebell for snatches. Anything less with result in very bad form.
12I agree with angelfromlsu, too light will do more damage. I use a 25-45 depending on the exercise with my personal trainer (who holds a kettlebell certification).
Otherwise they are totally fun, a whole body workout, they are really different from dumbbells. Really works your abs, glutes, hamstrings, arms, etc.
13I love The Firm, they're great for good beginner stuff. I have their resistance bands set.
I'd like to at least learn on a lighter weight, because honestly, 18 pounds is a little intimidating! I am just starting out, though.
14I like the firm, but their workouts are usually too long for me. I like to work out for 30 to 40 minutes, not 50 to 60.

16I do not recommend the Firm kettlebell video. It is in no way appropriate for beginners or anyone else. Kettlebells are not toys to be played with. The off-center balance of the weight makes correct technique even more important for safety than when using conventional implements. The Firm have mitigated this danger somewhat by using a kettlebell which is so light as to be superfluous. I recommend going to a source which has real and long-standing commitment to kettlebell training. The best kettlebell video for beginners I know of is Enter the Kettlebell, by Pavel Tsatsouline.
