I'm a big fan of yogurt for breakfast or for a pre-workout snack, but I'm an even bigger fan of Greek yogurt. Oikos and Fage are equally delicious, but they're not cheap (about $2 per small container). So when I was food shopping the other day, I was thrilled to see another kind of Greek yogurt called Chobani on sale for $1.29. Wahoo! It doesn't take much to get me excited.

Chobani comes in all sorts of flavors, like strawberry, peach, blueberry, and honey, but I picked up the vanilla. To see what I thought and find out how this yogurt compares to Oikos and Fage read more.

I really loved this Chobani Greek yogurt. It's smooth, thick, creamy, and has a slightly warm vanilla flavor, so you can enjoy it alone or with added fruit and granola. The texture and mild sour flavor reminded me of both Oikos and Fage Greek yogurt, and nutritionally, if you check out the chart below, you'll see all three are pretty similar. Chobani is slightly higher in calories and sugars, but it also contains more protein per container. For me though, I think I'll buy whichever one is the cheapest, being as things are pretty tight these days. If buying organic is important to you though, you may want to spring for Oikos. |

I love Oikos so I might give this a try!
1I'll stick to OIKOS....when it comes to dairy - Organic is the way to go!
2I tried this last week when I spotted it at my local Publix Greenwise. I like all the Greeks equally, but this one does win in terms of price. I like the plain to keep the sugar at bay...
3Looking at that tabel I would say Fage is the best...that's how it's supposed to be the yogurt, no darn sugar in it or any other silly things, just milk and cultures.
4I hope to find this at my grocery store, I usually stick with plain to avoid sugar too. What a good price huh compared to the other brands.
5I also tried Chobani last week for the first time. Went with vanilla as well...did anyone else notice a faint weird aftertaste with this one? Maybe I have super sensitive taste buds, but there was some kind of aftertaste that I really didn't care for. Though Fage is my absolute fav, I'll have to check out Oikos next.
6flyingroo - OIKOS makes a plain flavor, with 90 calories and only 6 grams of sugar....
7I've never seen this brand, but I recently tried Oikos and LOVED it...especially because there's NO FAT in it!
Maybe if I ever find it, I'll give it a try. I do want to find some new flavors!
8I love plain Greek yogurt, Fage being my favorite. I'll give this a try since I'm trying to lighten my spending during the holidays.
9I'm loyal to Fage. Especially the packs that come w/ the honey mixture!
10I love chobani I get it all the time. Where I buy it from it is $1.25 everyday and sometimes on sale for $1 and it comes in plain which has 100 calories, 7 grams of sugar, 20% of DV calcium, and 18 grams of protein. I usually add splenda and cinnamon. It's awesome.
11I tried Chobani for the first time this week. Im hooked, and switching over from Fage. While I love Fage, it was getting to be too expensive. Chobani is a lot cheaper and sometimes on sale for $1 for the small container. I eat the 0% and add splenda. Love it!!
12For price, why not buy the big containers, and then separate it into smaller tupperware for easy-go? I love Fage, but I'd give this a try
13I love The Chobani-
14the NONFAT PLAIN the 6OZ actually has 100 Calories and 7g of Sugars; which is only 10 Calories more than the Fage and I prefer the consistency.
I also love the Fage 5%. It's thick and low in sugars and carbs.
I like to get the Voskos. I think it tastes better than Chobani. The plain is in an 8 oz container and it is typically $1.50 or on sale for cheaper. Bargain. They also have flavors in the 5.3 oz size as well. The Oiskos vanilla isn't really sweet and pretty loy in sugar. Trader Joe's now has a house brand organic Greek yogurt for about $1.50 for 5.3 oz.
15YUMMY AND GOOD FOR YOU
16Brown Cow has also come out with a rather inexpensive Greek yogurt. In some cases, it's cheaper than Chobani.
17If you love chobani - shop for it at BJ's. You can buy a 12 pack for 12$. Not to shabby.
