The more you move around during your workday, the better for your health, your waistline, and your brain. One element of your outfit that can often disrupt your ability and desire to get up and move is your footwear. High heels maybe lovely to look at, but they don't exactly inspire a 10-block walk. Unfortunately, high heels don't just affect your feet, they alter the alignment of your entire body and can become a literal pain in the neck.
As you can probably tell, I mostly wear flats and comfy shoes. About once a week I don some heels and get a little fancy, which makes my little girls cheer with delight. But I am wondering about you . . .

1I mostly wear flats now, but once I graduate, I expect to wear heels everyday. I've always thought heels forced me to have better posture because I can't hunch when I'm wearing them.
2I agree that heels force you to have better posture. I wear heels most days to work, and I walk in them just as much as I would in flats (although, the heels do have a higher tendency to come off when I am sitting in my office, and I have been known to make a trip to the copy room barefoot).
3im from the 4-1/2"+ clan i use them everyday it doesnt matter if its morning or night I like the long lean look
4I love heels, but I wear flats must of the time when I'm in school.
5I used to wear heels a lot, espeically when I worked Downtown. But now, because my job is not in the core and because I feel weird looking good @ work because of ther perverted people I work with, I don't wear them to work anymore.
But I always wear them when I am going out
6Everyday. I have to wear them at work because I'm very tiny and I feel at a disadvantage if I'm heel-less. It makes me feel like I'm taken less seriously if I walk around the office looking like a child in flats.
7Almost every day while working, and in the winter my go-to shoes are high heeled boots.
8I really and truly *hate* heels. I wear them when I am doing something semi-formal where I have to "dress up" some (church, formal parties), but I LOATHE it. Heels don't give me better posture, they just make my feet hurt - a LOT.
9I wish it was more often but my 6-1/2 foot makes it really difficult to find heels that aren't over 3 in. which is the most I can stand. Can't designers see that a 4 inch heel is not the same in a 8 size foot than in a 6-1/2 one? Proportion guys!
10Maybe twice a week or so? I walk to work, so I tend to err on the side of cute flats.
11I wear high-heeled boots almost daily when the season's right, and wedge or platform sandals when it's warm. And I *do* take very long walks in them, pretty much every day. Comfy shoes are for tourists
12I would just like to say that if you can walk in heels and enjoy doing so, it's a GREAT workout for your calves, and also helps to improve posture! I wear heels as much as possible, and take care of my feet with tennis shoes and slippers when I'm not wearing them. If you have comfy heels and insoles that don't give you blisters, sometimes they are good for your legs!
13I wear them to work about 3 times a week. It just depends on my mood whether I wear them or flats.
14They make my back hurt too much.
15Very VERY rarely. I'm already tall so I don't need heels.
16I do at work like 3 times a week.
17I hate though. lol. bUt it goes with my outfits. lol.
i used to wear heels EVERY DAY and then i broke my knee so it became a bit more painful to do it. now i rotate them into my wardrobe at LEAST 3x a week cause i just feel more girlie and my knee is starting to get stronger
18My everyday boots have about a 2" heel. (Chunky, not stiletto.) Nearly all my other shoes have some sort of heel. I think my leg muscles are trained only to walk with some sort of elevation- I find walking in flats uncomfortable, especially for my knees. I don't really mind since I hate the way flat shoes look.
19at home and at the gym I'm barefoot, but anywhere else where people will see me (work, a restaurant, the mall, etc) it's 4 inchers, all the way.
20I go through phases where I will wear them everyday and then not for a couple weeks. I live close enough to walk to the bars (but not close enough to walk in heels...) so I usually wear flat boots or cute summery sandals to go out. Also - I know this sounds weird but I have a pretty large chest and I feel uncomfortable sometimes in heels because it makes me stick my chest out even more...I'm weird I know!
21I never figured out how to walk in heels for long periods of time!
There's a pair of black pumps I save for interviews and important business meetings, but until I find some nice 1~2" heels instead of the 3-4" monsters in the stores around me, I'll stick to flats.
Has anyone tried ordering from Zappos in Canada?
22Almost every day. Nothing shorter than 3".
23Never. High heels wreck my lower back.
24I'm about 50-50 flats and sneakers, but once in a while I'll wear heels when I go out and the outfit calls for it.. only happens maybe once every couple months.
25depends on my mood ... but usually everyday other than casual fridays ...
26Only for fancy occasions (weddings and such
). They make me feel like a woman, but
they also make my lower back hurt. And I like dancing so I'd like to prevent the shortening and tightening of my calf muscles.
27i don't get women who don't wear heals. i wear mine 1-4 times a week, but only because i go to uni 3 times a week
if i did go everyday then it'd be more.
28at least 5 days a week --- always for work!
29I can't wear a suit and flats ... it just doesn't feel 'right' to me!
you know girls, i found that high heels made my knees look amazing. my friends thought i photoshoped my pictures
my calves, my knewss and my gluts - all of them looked so much better while i was wearing extremely high heels. but my balls of feet were
killing me.
30sundaygreen, to me heels were never about being taller, it's about making your legs look even better and being feminine.
31Sneakers at the gym, Uggs if I'm very cold and Doc Marten boots the rest of the time. Heels and raising toddlers don't mix for me!
32i don't wear heels much because when i do, i'm a good 2 inches taller than my boyfriend
33I love heels and I love how they make my legs look, but I can't wear them at work. I pretty much only wear them when I go out somewhere nice or when I'm playing "dress up" in the bathroom.
34I wear flats 99% of the time, 1.I have sz9 feet which is hard to find pretty heels 2.I am 5ft 9iches, and wearing heels would make me tower over most people....
35Pretty much everyday. I'm short & curvy--I don't have much of a choice. I also don't feel professional &/or dressed up if I'm in flats. But for running errands and just hanging out, I wear flats
36haha i have those shoes!!
37I do dressy flats during weekdays b/c I walk to work. I am working on wearing more heels in my off time though!!
38I am known to run in my heels.
39I'd say sneakers mostly, flats with frocks but heels if I'm in a frock at night - which is rare. Mostly sneakers and flats.
40i usually where sneakers, but on special occasions, i where heals.
