Exercise is my go-to destress strategy, and if my primary goal is reducing tension, I prefer to work out without a buddy. While being active works wonders for me, there are times when all I want to do is pour a glass of red wine and escape with a good book. You shared some excellent ideas when I asked how you tend to get rid of stress; here are the 10 most popular ways to find release.
- Massage
- Sleep
- Watch a favorite TV show
- Clean or organize
- Take a bath (glass of wine or champagne optional)
To see five more destress solutions, read more.
- Write in a journal
- Drink a cup of tea
- Do something active: Take a walk, do yoga, go for a swim, or do high-impact cardio.
- Cook or bake something
- Hug someone

Clean or organize definately. take a shower, bellydance or take a walk. cook or bake. These are all productive ways to destress too, that's what i like about them
1Having intimate time, to be polite. Playing with a pet, if you have one is good too. I also recommend lavender spray, and to spray it over your pillow - it helps you sleep well and is calming.
2I am a big fan of all of those! I must be a de-stressing junkie!!
sock, it would have been hilarious if you'd say...'playing with *your*pet'....lol!!!
Is it just me who thinks that would be 'hilare?
O well, still a good way to de-stress
lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol
3I want to encourage everyone to go to your local massage place/spa and see if they have a monthly plan. I go to Massage Envy www.massageenvy.com (locations nationwide!) and I only pay $50/month. The reason I finally just signed up is because it is prepaid, meaning, I am forced to go an get my massage!
Also, if you can't use your massage one month, it rolls over OR you can gift it to someone else! But I don't know who would pass up an opportunity for an hour long relaxation session!
4i'm definitely a gym de-stresser and i also think that the glass of wine is a good one - but the other for me is soduko. i have a HUGE book of the puzzles by my bed and it does wonders!
5I like to listen to music, read a book, or lift weights. Weights are a really good way to forget about everything for an hour.
6Hehehe, justanerd, you're definitely right on that one.
7I clean ,organize,go for a walk ,sleep or watch tv.seems i do them all to destress lol
8Having a date with myself, a little wine (or a lot) and some music or chick flicks, and maybe some baking. I feel so spoiled when I do that, but it does destress
9I like to listen to music or watch a movie.
10Listen to music, run on the treadmill, read a good book, take a bubble bath, talk on the phone with friends
11I space out with my iPod; listen to audiobooks, podcasts.
12I like a good hot bath or a strenuous walk
13justanerd, playing with your "pet" works too!
14they all sound good :)i dunno if i've been stressed but i've been on cooking baking frenzy.
15I zone out in front of the TV or take a bath.
16I reread my favorite books, or watch my favorite disney movies, usually accompanied with a glass of wine or a good import beer.
