I have a serious coffee habit. After not drinking if for years (read two pregnancies in two years), I came back to the habit easily. The seriousness of my habit is not related to quantity, but rather constancy. I begin every day with a homemade latte. I wax and wane on having a second cup, but new research indicates that regular coffee drinkers, who drink two or more cups a day, have a lower all-cause mortality rate than non-coffee drinkers. This is probably due to the abundance of disease-fighting antioxidants in this rich brew. This news makes it so easy to rationalize a second cup.
Unfortunately, the brewing process can change how your java affects your health. Coffee that is not filtered, for example, can can raise blood fats, which means paper filters are better for your health than using a French press.
Bearing all this in mind, I am curious . . .

I normally drink instant coffee in the morning before workout, "Nescafe Instant Espresso Coffee" is my favorite brand. It's just too much work to brew a cup of coffee at 4:30 in the morning. I do drink filter coffee when I get back to the office.
1I have 2 filtered cups of coffee every morning; each with 1/2 tsp agave nectar and 1.5 tsp half and half.
2I drink filtered coffee every morning without fail! I just finished my second cup, and am contemplating drinking a third.
If I don't have my morning cup(s) of coffee, I get grumpy. Lol!
3i like to drink green tea. I don't drink coffee, it makes me crazy!
42 cups filtered coffee...sometimes three.
5I have a Nespresso machine so get my morning fix from a wonderful Nespresso capsule
6Good quality green tea.
7I get in my morning exercise and release tons of endorphines! I don't need caffeine!
8i wish i could wake up and workout, but i am a total grump and useless until i have a cup of coffee. then, usually another one at work.
9What is unfiltered coffee? Coffee made with a French press? I have a coffee maker that uses a metal filter that is reusable, so I assume my coffee is filtered. I love to put cinnamon in the grounds to give it a little flavor. I like my coffee with a little bit of skim milk and sugar-free hazelnut creamer!
10I normally don't get caffeine in the morning, but if I do in the afternoon it's usually from tea. Or soda.
11i'm drinking my morning (filtered) coffee as i read this right now. haha
12typically it's 2 cups black (and filtered), every morning. i usually find myself at starbucks or peets once on the weekend for a nonfat, sugar free vanilla latte. and on occasion, i like coffee after a nice dinner out.
i've tried to quit but always come back. now i won't feel so bad!
for me, i love the taste, the smell, and the feel of that first warm cup in my hands in the morning.
gotta go get cup #2!
13It's a red bull at 4:45 am to get me up and to the gym. Then when I come home I usually brew Teavana green tea with my breakfast. But on my days off I go down the street to my favorite little coffee shop and get a small caramel soy latte with an extra shot. I used to drink two cups of filtered coffee everyday, but I read something that coffee raises cortisol and can make your skin act up. I already have a delicate complexion to where I will break out if I drink a drop of milk, and switching to green tea helped my skin alot.
14I too am a RedBull at 5am person... before the gym. Then an iced coffee in the afternoon
15Diet Coke.
16Absolutely no caffeine for me at the request of my neurologist.
17One cup filtered coffee with some cinnamon, dash of whole milk and two tsp of sugar
18either a cup of coffee or tea in the morning. i don't put sugar in my tea, so i've been going with that lately. saves a few calories and blood sugar spikes.
19I drink a lot of coffee...mostly from our coffee machine at work, but I sometimes run to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts in the afternoon.
20Wait - help...I have a Mr. Coffee Espresso Machine which I then mix in with skim milk and ice into a frozen frappucino like thing EVERY morning no matter what. The espresso machine doesn't use paper filter. It just squirts the water thru the grounds in the little metal cup. Is this bad? It's about 3 oz of espresso in each frozen coffee drink I make. Anyone know?
21Sugar Free Red Bull is a requirement for functioning. Otherwise I'm a headachey, grumpy mess.
22I drink about 2 cups of filtered coffee in the morning...one before work and one at work...sometimes in the afternoon I enjoy a cup then, too. I love my coffee
23catgirl, I think "unfiltered" probably refers to instant coffee (?). I drink 1-2 cups filtered black coffee each morning
24A cup of Earl Grey or English Breakfast tea with milk. Though most of the time I'll drink two sips to wake up, and forget about it until it's time to get out of the house!
25Not so much in the morning as in the afternoon. Like around 3 or 4 o'clock or if I'm going to be up late then I'll run to a Community Coffee House and grab a guilt free white mocha. If you're ever in the Louisiana/Texas area, CC's coffee is a must!
26black tea sometimes green tea.
27i don't drink coffee every morning...usually every other day or so. the other days i drink decaffienated tea. but the days i do drink java i try to keep it to 3 cups or less.
28Espresso, baby.
29I drink tea, but only about once a week, and never in the morning. I never get soda either (hello, its expensive and I'm trying to save money). I think my skin looks better because of it.
30but it tastes SO much better in a french press...
31starbucks or coke
32I drink so much, I think I should be put on autodebit at Starbucks
33no caffeine.
34Two cups of strong french press coffee.
Hmmm, how does french press coffee raise blood fat? I take my coffee with non-fat milk.
Well, I think my blood fat level is fine, per my blood work (for annual physical). My doctor was so impressed with my lab results that he showed them to his medical colleagues.
35Sometimes a cup of weak chai tea with a little bit of milk/Splenda in the morning, sometimes plain green tea. I think I'm "caffeine sensitive" or something...one cup of coffee gives me the jitters!
36i usually have what equals 2 cups of french press coffee with very vanilla soy milk. on cold and dreary days i sometimes have a homemade chai tea latte instead, they are so comforting.
37I think I love coffee for the sake of having a reason to get up out of my seat or out of the office. We have one of those single cup makers here. Is that filtered? I start off every weekday with a cup along with some power creamer and a splenda packet. I might go for one more in the afternoon. Then on days when I have class at night (I'm a part-time grad student) I might get one just to get me through class. Although, if I get a drink on the weekend, it's usually chai instead.
38I drink Stash Green Tea, sometimes mixing it up with non caffinated teas.
I very rarely drink coffee. Usually only if my fiancee makes it, and most of the time I like it, but that's like only once a month.
39I'm not into caffeine.
40I have recently given up caffeine. It was really hard, but so far so good!
41I don't drink any caffeine in the morning, I do drink green tea throughout the day but only because I enjoy it iced tea and not because I need a boost.
42I tried to avoid the coffee habit for so long, but now I am hooked (I blame the start of it on all the craziness related to being maid of honor at my friend's wedding last year, haha). The first thing that I do when I get up is stumble into the kitchen, toss food in my dog's bowl, and then attend to Mr. Coffee.
43I have one or two cups, it varies, but always with 2 tablespoons Coffeemate (I literally measure out the Coffeemate because that stuff has calories) and 1 pack of Sweet 'n Low. Lately I've been having one cup and then one cup of black tea (pumpkin spice...mmm).
Sometimes I'll have one of those bottled Frappuccino Lites if I'm running late, but I like the fresh ground stuff better in the a.m. I'll also occasionally stop by Starbuck's.
I'm really not a huge coffee drinker, but I do enjoy a good cut every now and then (usually the weekends). As far as other caffeine is concerned, I typically stay away, but I do love green tea. I probably drink a total of 5 cups of coffee a month :]
44I drink filtered coffee in the morning, but it's usually more than one or two cups. After noon, I switch to hot tea, either black or green.
45Redline when I need it
46I drink earl grey or oolong tea during the workweek. I love to have coffee on the weekends. I usually make one pot (filtered) and share it with hubby. However, I love french-pressed coffee but if I drink more than one cup I'll get overly wired.
47I usually drink Diet Coke in the morning to wake me up and I enjoy a nice big mug of half-caff filtered coffee that I grind myself.
The reason why unfiltered coffee (coffee made in a French press or a percolator) raises your blood fats is because coffee beans contain oils that the filters normally trap. If you don't use a filter, you get the oils in your coffee. Probably part of why French press coffee tastes so good
48Don't consume caffeine. Don't like coffee nor tea. The carbonation in soda irratates my throat.
49I practically LIVE at Starbucks! During the work week I'll have a cup of hazelnut flavored instant coffee with one splenda and some non-fat milk, and around lunch or after I'm done teaching I'll have a brewed coffee from the cafeteria, or an iced coffee from Starbucks. On the weekends I usually get a sugar-free iced vanilla latte. I really enjoy my coffee on ice. I'm convinced it tastes better cold!
