Kristen Bell and Nicollette Sheridan are fans of Skinny Water, the beverage whose motto is "Get Skinny, Stay Fit." These beverages contain "0 calories, 0 sugar, and 0 guilt," and they're made with the green tea antioxidant, EGCG, to help tame your metabolism. While green tea has been shown to speed up your body's calorie-burning process, you can't add these drinks to your diet and expect to miraculously lose weight, which is what Skinny Water implies. On their XXX-Detox drink's description, it says "Three Xs and you're . . . in the skinny club."

What you discover when reading the ingredients is that these drinks contain Splenda (sucrolose), an artificial sweetener that may be calorie-free, but is not exactly good for you. Skinny Water is basically like fruit-flavored Diet Coke — no calories, no nutrition. To get the benefits of green tea, you'd be better off drinking a freshly brewed cup.
I have a bit more to say on the matter, so to hear why Skinny Water annoys me read more.
Even the name of this drink bothers me because I'm tired of the constant emphasis on being thin. We get that message already from magazines and TV, so we don't need it from our beverages. Skinny Water reminds me of those thinkThin bars. Both products have callous marketing ploys to make people think thinness is a must, and that we have to eat these foods to achieve it. Grr! Am I just being overly sensitive, or do these kinds of products bug you, too?

They really do bug me, totally agree... This is not only annoying but also dangerous. This is how eating disorders happen.
1If people weren't so gullible and believed that these totally bogus products could work and continue to buy them then they would quit making them. Of course it's a much deeper societal issue with media being thin obsessed . . .but I strongly believe passing along the message that health and fitness matters not the size or ur pants starts in the smallest places and Fit you pass along a wonderful message everyday to your faithful readers (and I'm sure the constant flux of new readers)everyday! Just keep doing what you doing by sending a good message of healthy lifestyle and fitness!!
2What? You mean there's no miracle water that will make me skinny?
I really think it should be illegal to make claims like that. Oh, and why are people believing them to begin with?
3Wouldn't at least most people know that it won't make them "skinny" including people who drink it? I don't really have an opinion. I haven't even noticed this product in the store. Either that or I just wasn't paying attention. I know that eating right and exercise will work a lot better than depending on this stuff.
4Why does Nicollette Sheridan always look like she's making "sexy pouty face"? It's weird.
These claims are so stupid. I mean, honestly, if you believe that just drinking sweetened water is going to make you lose weight without doing anything else, you kinda deserve to waste your money.
5The people that put these products out are just amazing.
Skinny water? Please.
If you want to be skinny, save yourself the $2 that
the skinny water costs and turn on the tap.
Tap water is just as skinny and doesn't taste of sucralose.
6skinny water? who would actually fall for something so stupid?
Here the secret to weight loss and a toned body...ready?! Regular Exercise and eating healthy!
7What was that WC Fields said about every minute ?
(seriously, if you buy it, they will come. no matter how ridiculous 'it' is.)
8I'd be willing to bet that the same people that have bought into this product's claim also are fans of Smart Water.
9I never really thought about that, but I agree that this isn't a responsible message. But I do like the Skinny Cow line of treats, because at least the spokesmodel is a kitschy cartoon cow.
10Yes Fit! Thanks for bringing this up, I saw it on People's website, "How these celebs get skinny," and it's just such a stupid message. Thanks, because we don't already beat ourselves up for not looking like them! And on top of it, they claim drinking this water is the secret to looking like that. Stoooopid.
11This is REALLY stupid.
How about this, why don't people just drink REGULAR WATER. If you combine that with a healthy diet and exercise, you'll be "skinny" or at least slim, fit and healthy. And you won't be consuming any weird artificial sweeteners.
12there marketing is wrong when I think of skinny I think unhealthy but Fit as healthy they need to change it to fit water
13And those thinkThin bars have like 300 calories in each one! And, they are nasty, I hate them. What really bothers me about everyone putting the emphasis on 'thin' or 'skinny' rather than healthy is that it seems to rub off onto everyone! I mean, sure, it'd be fun to look like Katie Holmes for like a day and then I'd probably kill myself, a woman cannot live on celery alone, this crazy 'thin is in' craze is disgusting.
14I agree - regular water has all the same qualities, and none of the artificial stuff.
Ironically, I'm sipping plain water right now. My doctor refers to me as "skinny."
15Funny that. Ordinary FREE water also has 0 calories, 0 sugar and minus ten million guilt, no?
16Isn't this just the "diet" version of Vitamin Water? I don't see the big deal.
17So I can just drink that water, go out and eat a cheeseburger and fries, and I'll lose 5 pounds, right?
Marketing people really know how to get to people. I'm sure a lot of overweight people (not all of them) are buying this up!
18It irks me too. I hate the emphasis on "eat or drink this and you will achieve the must have skinny body!" People who market that are only in it for the buck, getting dough from the gullible and the hopeful. People want to believe in these drinks and foods because they want the lose weight quick miracle.
As for me, I decided a long time ago that I would not use artifical sweeteners like Splenda or Sweet N Low. They taste nasty, fake and I never believed they were good for you.
If I want to color my water, have it taste like fruit and get my nurtrients then I'll take my chances on filtered tap water Koolaid and vitamins.
Sorry for the rant ^^;
19I like how the label says:
0 Calories
0 Sugar
0 Guilt.
Plain tap water has the same thing, doesn't cost 2 dollars, and doesn't call itself "skinny water".
This is just silly.
20I tryed it and it worked along with healty eating and exercise it stopped my cravings and it helped me lose weight so I dont know what everyone is talking about
21I'm drinking skinny water and I see nothing wrong either. It has a better taste then tap water. I'm not depending on it to lose weight, I walk and exercise for that....
22I drink these just when I crave something else. I drink more than enough water everyday all day, sometimes you just need that little pick me up and it's better than eating candy or other crap. I eat right and exercise regularly. NO, this drink will not make me lose weight, but it keeps me in check with my hectic life and keeps me from grabbing the treat or drink that will make me fat.
23Say what you want. But, I have lost 72 lbs drinking the American made Skinny Water. And, that was without a lot of exercise. I would have gotten rid of a lot more fat much faster if I went to the gym. It has taken about 10 months of on and off use of this great product to lose 3/4 of my 100 lb goal. From 280 lb to 208 feels real nice. 11" lost from waist. I drink 2 bottles a day in the winter because it raises my mood (serotonin booster) and 3 bottles daily in the summer. Love the fact that it cuts my cravings for sweet items.
24Just drank my first bottle of Skinny Water. I only bought it b/c I'm trying to cut down on my ~40oz/day soda habit (am also ~40lbs over-weight), and Target had it on sale for a buck. I do try to drink tap water, but I also tend to crave sugary drinks, and I don't care for "diet" sodas and juices b/c of the awful after-taste... My point is, if you forgive the name and the over-reaching claims, Skinny Water is good! I popped it in the freezer for about half an hour, and the Wake Up was as refreshing to me as a frosty glass of Sunkist, or a Fanta slurpie, lol... And if it sneaks in those vitamins that I don't usually get outside of a $5.50 Jamba Juice w/ a boost and a whopping 80g of sugar, that's even better
25FOR THE RECORD, SKINNY WATER HAS HIRED AN AD AGENCY TO POST COMMENTS ON BLOGS. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE LAST FEW POSTS ARE BY THEM. NOT ONLY IS THE PRODUCT MARKETING AND CLAIMS UNTRUE, THEY ARE HORRIBLE TO WORK FOR. THE GUY RUNNING THE SHOW (AN OVERWEIGHT SLOB - SERIOUSLY) WILL TELL YOU STRAIGHT OUT IT DOESN'T WORK.
26"Anonymous" This is to you! If you have proof , then post it or else your comments have no merit! I do not work for this company however you sound like you work for a competitor. This product is great!! I've lost weight I ditched my supplement pills and replaced them with this water which is working out big time! I am thrilled to see a different product out there that actually works. Cravings have disappeared ,,,,,,,woohoo! FYI I purchased the water from their website for 1.00 a bottle....
27I think it is ridiculous that you are going after a product that is trying to alleviate the obesity problem in this country. You say that sucrolose "Isn't really that good for you." Could you be a little bit more specific? Do you have any sources or evidence that will prove your claims? You sound like a Vitamin Water salesperson who is upset after losing some clients. This product as been a God send, I've been able to lose 25 pounds while drinking Skinny Water and exercising regularly. Shame on you for coming down so hard on such a wonderful American made product.
28This product actually worked for me. It suppressed my appetite so I still eat healthy but much smaller portions and don't snack at all. I lost ten pounds in six months.
29I love Skinny water! I don't drink it to "lose weight" but to avoid gaining weight , maybe. I drink more than enough H2O daily and sometimes need a flavor boost. You people who think they are trying to skam are ridiculous, it is a clever name for a low cal drink, good marketing if you ask me.
30Sigh. Love these anonymous comments.
31The Acai Grape BlueBerry is absolutely delicious. I don't care if it gives me hi energy or not it tastes great!!!
