In case you aren't already in love with strawberries, I have some reasons to get the love fest with this berry started!!! They are a low calorie food loaded like a billionaire, with antioxidants known as phenols. These phenols not only give strawberries their irresistible red color, but also provide heart-protective, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory properties to this berry. A veritable trifecta of benefits.
The other superlative characteristic of strawberries is the amount of vitamin C they contain. One cup of berries provides well over 125% of the daily RDI of vitamin C. Now you might recall, that organic fruits contain more vitamin C so I think it is well worth it to buy organic strawberries. Another reason to go organic with these berries is they have been found to have the highest amounts of pesticide residue when compared with other produce. Strawberry season is here so the cost of a pint should be falling and they should be abundant at your local farmer's market.
Now I am sure you already know the joys of strawberry shortcake, if not PartySugar will teach you how to make it. But, the berries are not just for dessert anymore. Oh no...you can put them on a salad too. My favorite way to eat them, however, is straight up. Not sliced, no extra sugar, no cream, I just pop them straight into my mouth - after washing them of course.
And you? How do you like to eat your strawberries? Tell me in the comment section below.

Bourjois
I eat them right from the box!!! [washing them first, of course]. I love eating fruits fresh :]
1I love my strawberries dipped in a tiny bit of chocolate. I'll admit, I've got a sweet tooth.
2Any old way! I LOVE them!! But my favourite is just plain too!
3I love them plain, but if I need a little kick I sprinkle a little bit of brown sugar on them
4I lovee making purely strawberry smoothies!
5I agree, I love eating them plain. But if I'm in a parfait mood - I slice them up along with some bananas, top with FF vanilla yogurt and some Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal. MMmm..
6Or I do like menthadict - strawberry smoothie!
We've been keeping strawberry's in the house since they came in season.I eat them plain or with pound cake and whip cream.
7I love them plain, or with my favorite yogurt (which is currently trader joe's organic vanilla bean, it's so thin and delicious!)... oh and baked into cake is good too!
8Mmm. With chocolate fondue! They're also great in yogurt.
9my favorite fruit! good in every way! by themselves with sweetener, with peaches, blended in a smoothie, etc. so yummy, the best!
10I love strawberries! What's not to like?
11Indeed, I like them best without anything as well! But the idea of SALADS sounds interesting. What else would you put there?
12I know that Kathrine Zeta-Jones smashes the strawberries up and smears them on her teeth! It's said that the antioxidants the fruit contains, helps whiten our pearlies!
13I couldn't agree more. I love strawberries!
14If you see them, buy Brown Sugar Strawberries! (extra sweet) no they don't have brownsugar on them, them must growin brown sugar...they are the plumpest, juiciest, sweetest strawberries EVER!

18I wash them and then let them warm up to room temperature first, and then eat them straight. The flavor really pops when they're warm!
19Blended with 3/4 cups raw oats (ground), 2 scoops of protein powder, and 1 cup water and 1 cup fat free milk. POWER FOOD. Be sure to eat a few by themselves for dessert!
