If you are looking to tone your booty, I have two must-do exercises for you. Skip the squats and try bent knee donkey kicks and step ups. According to Self magazine, these two moves work glutes well over 60 percent more than squats. Plus they fire up the hamstrings more too, toning your entire backside.
Like I've said before, I think it is a good idea to reorganize your workout, and substituting new booty exercises is just another way to rev up your routine. Try these two moves next time you work out. Aim for two sets of 15 donkey kicks on each side and two sets of 12 step ups with each leg. Feel free to add hand weights to your step ups if you want an extra challenge.

Great way to add variety to a workout. I do tons of steps ups with a 35lb dumbbell. For beginners, I recommend starting without weight to get the proper form. Also, I would recommend aerobic step equipment. I will typically do steps ups and squats.

i know this exercise since i started working out. all aerobics instructors made us do it. i sometimes get cramps from this move.
5I feel the most burn and delayed-onset muscle soreness from bridges. I'll do them with a heavy weight resting on my hips, and then one leg, with the other leg up in the air. It really works!!

you can do step ups with an aerobic step, or a step stool. you don't need to use something that is so high.
7Phew, I didn't know if you had to use a chair for the maximum effectiveness of this or not. I'll use the step block in my gym then!
8i don't know too many exercises to make my butt look GREAT so i really do appreciate that you've shared this - but other than that - i find that the elliptical is a great way for me to tone my butt and make it flatter.

11Donkey kicks are the BEST!! I usually see results right after doing two sets of 20 reps on each leg. I also LOVE the elliptical I have received the best results on this machine.
