The American Dietetic Association recently conducted a poll on the eating habits of Americans. The good news is that the food trends are healthy.

Over half the people surveyed said they are eating more whole grain products and veggies. Almost half the people polled are eating more fruit and more lowfat foods. People have even increased their consumption of omega-3 fatty acids. These people are also eating less trans fat, beef, pork, and dairy.
These figures mark a trend toward healthy eating and I am curious . . .

I am eating better (less fast food, more fruits and vegetables), but I still eat dairy, pork, and beef. What's wrong with that? I get lean ground beef, lean pork chops, and low-fat dairy items made with 2% milk.
1I have eaten a vegetarian, whole foods diet since I was 8 (not that I haven't had the occasional junk food phase), so I can't really say I've increased the healthiness of my diet in a while. However, I have convinced my fiance to add vegetables to his lunch and more fiber to his breakfast, since he used to be the poster child for white bread.
2I've been eating healthier for a while now, but I don't see what's wrong with dairy/pork/beef either. As long as you do it responsibly, like mtiger pointed out, I don't see a problem.
3Yes.
Its bizarre how much I've changed my habits.
I eat more produce, less sugar, so much less meat almost to the point of never eating it, less butter, more local, more organic, and less starches. Boycotted soda, white flour and that gross hydrogenated syrup/corn starch stuff.
So weird, but its was as if once I cut back on things, I just couldnt eat them period.
4I eat pretty much the same everyday, oatmeal in the morning, healthy snack mid morning, lunch (lean meat+veggies), yogurt for afternoon snack, and dinner (lean meat+veggies) i got used to eating that way and lost around 40 pounds in 4 years, and i do also exercise at least twice a week.
5Well I kind of already did.
6I'm proud to say that my healthy eating is becoming a lifestyle change as opposed to a "diet." I certainly feel better and I have more energy.
7You left off the option "I already eat healthy". Which I do, so I'm not too worried. I eat lots of fruits and veggies and eggs, but I'm trying to cut back on my sodium intake.
8definetly cut back on the candy, fast food, the red meats, the fried foods and greasy things. i always ate fruits and veggies from local farmers markets. i will not give my dairy or bread up
but i have switched to wheat and cut back on the cheese
intake.
cheese. how i love thee.
9i enjoy what I refer to as "clean" food. Food that is not greasy or processed. side note fruits and vegetables satisfy hunger quicker than some potato chips or cookies.
10healthy eating was always a paramount in my family. we never had pizzas, hamburgers etc.
11I know am looking for organic everything and mostly recognizing the difference in flavors. The cost doesnt bother me when its worth it.
Organic ketchup is basically the best thing ever. Plus its completely different color and consistency than the regular ol' ketchup. Give it a shot.
12i can honestly say that i've pretty much always been a healthy eater since i was old enough to really choose my foods. when i was younger i was your typical kid that liked sweets but ever since i was in college, i've been pretty good about it all.
