Hydrogenated oil is a huge buzz world in the food industry. It's a type of trans fat that many companies and fast food chains are removing from their products because hydrogenated oil has been linked to heart problems, miscarriages, obesity, and belly fat. Let's see if you know which foods to avoid.
Question 1 of 8
Oreo cookies

Patrizia Pepe
Dries Van Noten
Soft Grey
Hydrogenated oil and partially hydrogenated oils are not the same. I think this article made that mistake - you really meant to ask about trans fats - which is partially hydrogenated oil. Read about the difference at http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Difference-Between-Hydrogenated-vs.-Partia....
1I think this article made a mistake - Hydrogenated oils are not trans fats, which is what this quiz is about. Partially hydrogenated oils are trans fats and man-made. Look up the difference online and tell me if I'm wrong here!
22/8 Oops, I completely bombed that. Heh.
3it was the ones you didn't expect, and the ones you DID expect didn't have HOs
4I bombed - but that's b/c I don't eat any of this stuff anyway! W/ or w/o hydrog. oils, it's still processed junk.
5LOL. 4/8.
Whether or not these foods have hydrogenated oils or not, most of them are still bad for you!
I'd be more worried about the high fructose corn syrup content...waay too much fake sugar in the sweet things. Lay's have too much salt (get the Baked ones!); a lot of these products *still* have plenty of fats (and not the good kind) - I mean, we're talking about cookie dough, peanut butter, Chex Mix, and potato chips here... @_@
6My parents live on Hot Pockets! They just don't care about ingredients - only taste.
7Well I'm going hom and throwing away alot of crap in my house! 4/8
8Ugh. I'm pregnant and I just bought those exact same Hot Pockets. At least I only ate one of them. Serves me right for not reading labels!
97/8! I followed my rule: if it's a famous brand, they don't use it anymore, it's bad publicity. It works most of the time.
101/8, I totally bombed it! Everything I thought that didn't have hydrogenated oil did, and vice versa. I suck! I'll do some major label reading!
11Eek, 4/8! I only actually knew a couple of these.. Oreos and Jif. My dad made us stop buying processed peanut butter ages ago because of hydrogenated oil, so I've been eating the natural stuff for a while now.
122/8. guess i have to just finish off my peanut butter jars and oreo packages and not buy those anymore
133/8. Lesson learned.
142/8 I just don't obsess over this stuff - one day it's bad, the next it's ok, etc.
155/8.
16OOOOh.
Now I know.
4 out of 8
huh so oreo is good and so is layes
17really scary, the bad side effects of hydrogenated oils
18People are too tolerant in America. If you look at it from the proper perspective, food companies owe trillions of dollars in lawsuits to most all americans. They use marketing schemes, and flat out lies to entise us into temptation, making flase claims. Later, we end up with cancer and who knows what else? I do believe that people need to wake up a lot more to make these bad companies go away for good. I would LOOOVE to see McDonald's get shut down completely.
