If staring at a computer screen all day has your eyes bugging out, try this simple trick for a little relief.
- Start by rubbing your palms together for about 10 seconds to build up heat in your hands.
- Place the heels of your hands lightly over your eyes and block out as much light as you can. Allow your finger tips to gently press into your forehead because chances are high it is tense, too.
- Hang out in the "dark" for five to 10 slow breaths. While you're breathing, focus on allowing all the tension in your face and jaw to release.
While it is not quite the same as lying on the couch with a lavender eye pillow, it works well in a pinch.

I really need to start doing this. I sit in front of a computer all day.
1If even this takes too long, here's something my optometrist recommended:
2He said we get eye strain because biologically we're made to see well at great distances to look for food or danger, but now we spend all day looking at something 2 feet in front of us. He suggested that you take a really "long blink"--close your eyes, then turn your head, open your eyes, & focus on something far away: the tree out your office window, the water cooler down the hall, etc. It only takes 2 or 3 seconds, & if you do it every hour or 2, it'll help stop & even prevent eye strain.
Good tip, kittyhill!
3I also set the brightness about at half what it was and really noticed the difference since my eyes don't feel as tired at the end of the day.
4thanks for the tips. my eyes are really hurting right now. i have got to stop checking out all the Sugars!
5ooooh i think that im' going to have to try this. i feel like i'm always getting eye strain since i'm always on a computer. since i can't go to the spa to get the cucumber mask...this is going to be the next best thing i think.
