Did you know that studies have shown there could be 1 million germs on just ONE shopping cart handle? Well there are and I'm totally freaked out.
It makes sense when you think about it, with all the hands and food, not to mention the mouths of children, that come into contact with a grocery cart I am surprised there aren't more than a cool million. Gross. Luckily a new company called Pure Cart Systems recognized the pure need for a cart cleaning technology and went for it. Fit's Tip: Until we start seeing this in all grocery stores, make sure to wash your hands after a trip to the grocery store. Also, you may want to carry some wipes around with you to wipe-off the cart's handle before you use it.

The grocery store where I shop has hand wipes at the end of the meat department, and I always snag an extra to use once I get to my car (especially since I always start eating grapes or whatever fruit I bought as soon as I'm back in the car!)
1One of our grocery stores just mounted a wipe dispenser at the end of the grocery cart row. It gets lots of use!
2the local grocery shop I go to has had wipes next to the carts for quite some time now. I do not see many people take advantage of this though.
3Yes, mine has wipes too, but often the caps arent on tight enough and they dry out
4All the stores near me are doing that too now. They even have a rack for mounting the container of wipes and a little trash can underneath.
5Grocery carts are nasty and I always think of those poor little babies that are sucking on the dirty handles and there parents dont do a thing...yuck....
6The food store here also has the wipes by the carts and the entrances/exits - and I see a lot of people use them.
7the stores in vegas all have (or try to) wipe dispensers at the enterence... its the first thing my dad grabs when he goes shopping... he actually gets mad when they are out
8What a ridiculous idea...does Sugar get paid to advertise this crap? You guys need to check out HandleBuddies sanitary handle covers, featured in Pilates Today and American Fitness magazines.....great for the gym AND for shopping cart handles.
