I love practicing yoga alone or in a class, with friends or strangers, indoors or outside on the grass, but I'm not so sure I'd ever strike a pose without my clothes. Naked Yoga classes aren't anything new, but lately they're becoming more acceptable.
I'm sure you all have your visions of what goes on in a Naked Yoga class, that it's one big group orgy. Just because people are naked in a room together doesn't mean that the focus has to be on sex. Believe it or not, there are many non-sexual reasons people choose to practice without their capris and halters on. Some veteran yogis are looking for a new and different experience, while others are trying to overcome weight or body image issues. Some appreciate the clarity of seeing the instructor's body, and some just like Naked Yoga because it's "taboo." Others feel that being naked is very spiritual and healing, and the physical shedding of their clothes allows them to emotionally shed negativity and judgments.
Fit's Tips: If Naked Yoga appeals to you, get info about the class ahead of time. While most classes aren't about sex, there are definitely some Naked Yoga classes offered that may be on the touchy-feely side. So if you're looking to have a spiritual experience and definitely not a sensual one, it's best to find out before you show up.

I see it advertised here in the city and I just can't wrap my arms around it. It seems so gross and distracting. I mean....ick.
1I would def bring my own mat to this class!!! Yuck!!!
2Well, I have practical concerns about this. I'm naturally very busty, and I need a supportive sports bra when I exercise. Otherwise, my chest hurts, and I may get premature sagging.
3Sounds a bit strange.
I'd also hope everyone in a naked yoga class would have good hygiene.
4I don't care what it is I'm doing... I NEED a sports bra!
5I'd heard something about yoga being practiced naked in India or in just underwear
6I used to do Bikram yoga a lot back in the day, it's the hot yoga where you come out dripping like a wet towel... I could see how being naked would feel a bit better (people try to wear as little clothing as possible anyways, ie guys in speedos) however it could get awful slippery...
7Hell no. Sorry, but there are definitely people I wouldn't want to see naked, or to have see me naked. And I'd find it hard to get into the proper frame of mind with some guy's business dangling a few feet in front of me. Just the thought is making me giggle like I'm sixth grader in sex ed class.
8Great title to this post...
9There's no way I would do this...I don't want to see a bunch of strangers naked.
10If you have sex without a sports bra on, an hour or whatever of yoga should not cause premature sagging. Where is the logic behind that?? Assuming this is regular yoga that doesn't have lots of jumping, running and bouncing.
However, I do agree with tlsgirl--I have a weak stomach.
11i've been a yogi for about 6 six years - but i am still a little apprehensive about the whole naked group session thing.
i always have to wear full or 3/4 length pants so i don't slip from being sweaty in crow poses. i think the bare skin on bare skin would prove to be very challenging!
