I think it's so important to listen to your body and eat when you're hungry. Sometimes, though, hunger pangs and tummy rumbles can come at weird times, like in the middle of the night. I'm wondering if you listen to them . . .

i never do, but my husband always has. he eats an entire bowl of cereal! i don't have the energy...even if i wake up starving. my bed is just too warm
It's a very rare occurence for me, but I never wake up in the middle of the night and get a "midnight snack". It's only if I'm up really late - then I might have a little something.
I don't wake up to do it. It is a rarity to eat in the middle of the night. When I do it is coming home really late from field work, a concert, or a road trip.
Nope, not worth the extra calories.
In high school I always ate in the middle of the night for some reason I would scarf a whole can of peaches. Now that I'm expecting I'm sure I'll be hit with goofy cravings again. Last time I was pregnant the only time I would eat and not get sick was night time, so I ate as much as a could in the evenings.
By the way I wasn't pregnant in high school I was just telling a story of my cravings from then.
I have hypoglycemia and struggle to keep my blood sugar up. If I wake up in the middle of the night hungry, I'm often to weak to get out of bed and get to the kitchen for food. Everyone laughs at me, but I have small snacks (wrapped, of course) stashed in my dresser drawer within arms reach of my side of the bed. I usually only resort to them about once or twice a week.
I never get up in the middle of the night. When I do, I barely have the energy to use the bathroom. I might eat midnight snacks sometimes if I'm still awake past 12. But I try not to do that either.
I never wake up and get out of bed in the middle of the night. My boyfriend, on the other hand, gets up all the time and just eats whatever he can find.
I never do. I never eat later than 6pm.
This is kinda weird, but I wake up nearly every night in the middle of the night and eat 2 all-bran or granola bars, read a little bit of a magazine, then go back to sleep. It has just become a habit for me! I enjoy the quiet and time alone, plus I'm always racing around in the morning and don't leave much/any time to have breakfast. And my weight has stayed at the weight I'm happiest with. So...this works for me! Strange, I know.
not unless I just got back from a club . . .
now that i think about it....i've never done this!
Never. I only eat three full meals a day. I know that goes against conventional wisdom, but I've never been a snacker. I just don't snack.
actually this has happened to me TWICE this week and I wish it would stop! I've woke up around 4am just STARVING. And my stomach hurts and is growling and it's impossible to fall asleep until I go eat something.
This has never happened before and I'm not sure why it recently started...
I really only snacked in the middle of the night when I was preggo. I would have a bowl of cereal at like 2 a.m.
never. i'd rather starve to death. i try not to eat after 21.00 and it works 360 days a year
never really woke up from a sleep to snack, though i have come hoe lateat night and snacked on some random foods before bed. last night came home at 12am and had some fig bars. . . :\
I never wake up in the middle of the night...I'm a really sound sleeper. Sometimes I wake up really thirsty and I'll drink some water, but that's it.
I guess I should modify my answers...if I've been out having drinks or something I might have a snack when I get home, but on normal nights I don't snack, and I never wake up and snack.
When I was nursing my son, I would wake up starving and not be able to go back to sleep unless I ate. It was so frustrating! For a while, I drank a glass of egg nog, but then I decided I wanted to lose my baby weight. Next I started keeping a PB&J by my bed for when I woke up in the middle of the night. That worked well.
Even now, if I wake up hungry, I can't go back to sleep unless I eat a little yogurt or something. It doesn't happen often- unless I am working out more than normal. If your body wakes you up to tell you that you're hungry, you probably need to eat something.
If I wake up truly hungry of course I'll eat something! There's no way I can sleep with a rumbling tummy
This happens pretty rarely though.
no - i'm not a night time snacker. i figure that if i haven't eaten before bed, then that's something that i'll have to deal with until breakfast. i think that i have always been good about setting boundaries for myself in that sense.
never... once I hit the bed... I don't leave it til the morning. Not even for bathroom breaks.
Yes, I do, it's not worth losing the sleep if I wake up because of hunger.
I never wake up in the middle of the night and eat. My boyfriend does it all the time! He'll wake up at like 2 and eat whatever's in the house.
